AS LONG AS THE GUY IS SELLING THE MOTOR WITH ACTUALL MILEAGE.i wouldnt believe it untill i seen the title to show what the last mileage was put when transfered to new owner, and the set of gauges with that exact number on the odometer..most people are crooks..if someone had a engine with 20,000 miles wouldnt they say it had 5k when you sold it?most people would and thats what suxs.if he gives you any **** about the odometer or the title for you to see it then you know hes lieing to you.

well ... this is a reputable shop. They are well known in the area and they do compression/leak tests and everything. I mean when you are buying a motor out-of-bike you never REALLY know, but this is the best scenario I think ... what about the $$$?? is it worth it??

I haven't actually bought it yet. For those of you who stunt hard on the 900RR and do the motor swaps, you know these ****'s are hard to come by .... 98 and 99 motors are the ONLY ones to use, screw all the old ones with the oil starvation problems ...(that's why it needs new motor) .... for the guys that use these motors, what do you think??

yo

let me tell you a secret, i got a 98 motor and i just got through embedding a valve in the 3rd piston.. looks like a quarter stickin half way up outta the top of the piston. the one i just got through rebuildin, spun bearing in 3... hmmm, 3 a lucky number??? prolly not... the oil problem is in all of em, not really a PROBLEM, but thats where they all go... stay away from the old ones, and you'll be fine, nothin wrong with a 97 though, mine ran great.... just keep the oil level a lil high, but not too high.... cuz you be on ebay again before ya know it... LATA!

thanks for the info .... this is a reputable motor though. The reason I have been talking about 99's so much is because I have been talking to kyle a lot about it, and he says "get the 99, and put it in your frame, cause it's the ABSOLUTE BEST setup there is" ... not saying that others can't do it fine or even great ... I just consider him to be pretty much the authority on the 900RRs and since he's helped me TONS and we are both in Boca area ... I am gonna go with this setup ... I was only wondering if other guys out there that use these motors in older frames are paying around $1500 for everything or not .....??

see.. thats rediculous. 17hundy for a motor? Thats why I havent messed with gettin a 900rr. I will stick to the gixxer and my 600$-700$ 750 motors. The 750, unlike the 600 takes a lickin and keeps on tickin. literally.. ticking.. lol.

thats alot of scratch my man, i usualy pay a gee, or rebuild em, got three blown in my gerage now, pick em up for nothin blown and fix em, as far as 99 versus 97, the 99 has 14 more horse, and the tranny is alittle more geared towards lower end, its like they knew everyone wheelies those bikes, i run 96 97 myself little more accessable, i dont know if id pay 1700 hunge though thats way pricey.
