What are you using to hold on your pipe?

I went to honda to get a stock muffler clamp and was quoted 28 dollars not including the bolts!!! Went to advanced auto parts got a 2" c-clamp for mufflers at 4 bucks, cranked it down and viola!!!! Done. What a markup at Honda. I was wondering is the thermal gasket neccesary or is that just to keep heat down on the pipe. I did notice a little exhast leaking from the connection, will I lose any noticable low end from it?

Re: What are you using to hold on your pipe?

on my 636 i can actually close my exhaust off i have such a large exhaust leak that it dont matter LOL but when i closed up the exhaust leak i noticed a power loss, so i opened it back up. also it sounds good with the leak. enough exhaust gos through the pipe to sound good and i get a slight crackle from the leak. i have had quite a few people tell me it sounds good that way.
