I personally hate YamaHAHAHA so I gotta say no. Are you talkin about lot type **** or highway? It would be okay on the highway.... But if you take it to the lot, wreck it once for me. : )

Re: Pro's & con's
i think it was 2006, Yamaha made these HUGE claims about the R6 being soo much lighter than anything in its class and supposedly it made like 12 more hp and revved almost 1000 rpm higher than any other 600. Well, the bike mags got a hold of it and it turned out that Yamaha was full of ****. Since that day, I refuse to buy one. I think that every company has its following and the 600s are sooo close to eachother in terms of weight and performance, that lying through your teeth about how much better you are is useless. And I wont buy a bike from a company like that just like I wont buy anything from a person like that

Re: Pro's & con's
everybody lies in there press release statistics slightly. I agree yamaha hyped it more, but one mag put every bike on the dyno to confirm or deny there redline. Every bike except for one (suz, yam, kaw, honda tested) was off the redline by a considerable amount, around 1k rpm. The yamaha still had the highest redline. I wanna say it was Honda that wasnt lying but dont hold me to that. Im not just talking redline either if you wanna know a bikes true wet/dry weight one mag weighs all the bikes full of fluids and posts results on there website. Those numbers are considerabally different than what is claimed originally.

That bike is killer on the highway! I wouldn't think it would too too hot in a lot though. I just got home from a CMRA race day. Yamahammer DOMINATED the majority of events, even the supermotard converted class. Oh, and I plan on buying the pearl white/ rapid red '09 in April when my local dealer gets em in. (damn obamacession we are in...)

If the deal is good enough I would go for it whether it was going to be stunted, just ridin, or re-sold for profit come summer. It could be a great stunt bike for someone else but not you or vise versa. Id go for it. If it all works out you'll end up having something unique. The only issue I can think of with R1's and R6's for that matter are their trannies going (at least on the older ones when abused). I'd also search out some R1 forums with this QS.
Good luck man.

in hawaii 02-03 style R1 is the most popular STREET stunt bike. perfect for long (highway) wheelies and stoppies. i rode one stock and was able to clutch it up in 3rd, but the guy switch it to a -2 in the front. after that it felt too twitchy for me. i personaly like the 03 954rr, but if u can get a good deal on the R1...buy um..
