speedometer
Is a speedometer a legal necessity in California? I mean, if I get pulled over without one......will i get ticketed?
If it is necessary will a portable gps with a speedometer on it leagally qualify as a substitute?
My current speedometer worked until the cover cracked.....it worked for a while after but stopped.....Ifear that maybe some setiment got in some gears on the guage itssellf or something.....is that easily fixed?

i would think it is needed in cali. i know in illinois, they can write a fix it ticket.

let me correct myself, i know they can write you a ticket if it is BROKE...my friend got pulled over with no speedometer in his car(import tuner), and they didnt do ****. when he had one on his bike and it wasnt working and he got pulled over, they ticketed him. when they pulled him over and it wasnt on there at all, nothing happened

my r6 is streetfightered out with no cluster and i got pulled over the other day.... well i was parked walkin out of the store and the cop gave me a ticket for my license plate. didnt say anything about no cluster or mirrors

common sense will tell you that a speedometer is required on ANY vehicle in ANY state. how many cops will actually notice that you dont have one, prob none. if youre really that worried about it, if u get stopped just put ur helmet on your tank in front of your cluster. but dont be dumb and say "im sorry i was speeding i dont have a gauge"
