05 gsxr 1k electrical issues

ok, so i got my 05 1k back together and running, but when i got the subframe welded, i disconnected that stupid *** exhaust valve that opens and closes the exhaust for low end power, much like the 929's....tonight i attempted to reinstall it because the bike runs like complete *** without it. before i hooked it up i started the bike, it ran and idled...so i have two exhaust valves, one is from a gsxr 600 and one is from my 1k....i have no clue which is for what bike so i guessed, hooked it up and nothing, the bike wouldn't start, so i tried the other one, and NOTHING....i pulled the tank off and pulled a plug so i could check for spark....no spark, checked all the fuses and they were good.....i have no idea what the hell is going on, is there a possibility that i fried the brain box by hooking the wrong exhaust valve up? they look the same so i think that's a stretch. the main fuse is fine too, it cranks all day long, but i just can't get spark. any help would be appreciated

Re: 05 gsxr 1k electrical issues

did you try taking it back off and seeing if the bike would run?

unplug the ecm or power commander and the battery. Wait 15 minutes and hook up the battery and turn the ignition on without the power commander hooked up. then turn off the ignition and hook up the power commander. Might work.?

Re: 05 gsxr 1k electrical issues

get out a multi meter and testing the different sensors. you should be able to get a digital service manual posted on one of the boards.

This is a bike not a super computer, what is your malfunction. Take that bike and throw it away, one more thread about about this gsxr and your suspended from stuntlife for a month.

You should have got the 6007501000 model those don't have that problem.

Re: 05 gsxr 1k electrical issues

the issue you got going is bigger then the exhuast valve. theres def something going on for there to be no spark but it sounds like u burnt something up swap out all the fuses even if they look good there always the first to go

Re: 05 gsxr 1k electrical issues

well id say check the voltage running to the coils
if nothing go back to the computer and measure it from there
if nothing check the voltage to the computer
id check all the connectors must have been something that unhooked while you were putting on the exhaust valve

Re: 05 gsxr 1k electrical issues

so i disconnected the battery, let it sit for a while, changed out the spark plugs and boom, spark....hooked the exhaust valve up and it purrs like a pissed off cat.....NOW.....i took it into town and back when it was warm out, i'm sure the bike ran for a bit on it's side and filled the air box with oil, it smokes like a fog hat concert STILL....the motor sounds tight, no shavings in the oil, no valve noise....what else could cause it to smoke that much???
