Re: Fork swap on a 02 F4I?

here is the list of tools you should have if you want to be able to change seals and oil in any fork.

fork oil level tool(motion pro or progressive suspension), spring compressor(traxxion dynamics), seal driver(motion pro or k&l), extended 8mm allen(only place i found it was snap-on) and grip tool(sears).

if your totally disassembling the forks you don't need the oil level tool because you can just add the recommended amount of fluid, if you are just dumping the fluid out and adding more then you will need it, because there will still be some oil left in the cartridge.

note: don't go by the triple tree diameter if you are getting a driver.
eg. i have an '06 600rr front end and the fork size(at the triple) is 48mm, but at the slider it's only 41mm. thus a 41mm driver is required.

hope that helps some people thinkin about doin their own forks in the future. peace!

all you need is a long tim allen with socket setup and maybe air impact gun. its not hard to do just a little messey

one more note: i heard some people are usin 15w thats way overkill. the stock fluid in most forks is 5w. i like the honda ss-8 fluid, its 10w and is more than anyone would ever need.
