just got mine in today and theres no check valve for it to breathe. whats the deal. some have them and some dont...ill have to send it back now

it dont matter if it does or not those valves suck mine has one but still builds up pressure and throughs my fi light if im really hammerin on it.

yeah. they say youre supposed to take that allen out. the ball. and the spring. then cut 2 coils off the spring cause its too stiff and wont relieve the pressure. whats going vortex. why do some have them and some dont.

just take out the set screw and the ball thingy and it will vent better ..

as far as some not having it that just doesn't make any sense at all , the cap has to vent , must hve been a **** up

It really doesn't matter if there's a vent hole or not, IMO. I've gotten them with and w/out. The caps I've had w/ vent holes, I've had to JB weld the hole shut to PREVENT leaking(my current F4i cap). Its been JB welded for a year w/ no problems. My FZ1 cap came w/ out a vent, also. No problems there, either.......I'ld rock it.

vortex sucks with those caps. mine had a vent and still built up pressure, I had to use a set of damn plyers to get the cap off if I was low on fuel. **** vortex caps, run a stockie!

the one on my 02 F4i dosNT have a vent either
and it never really builds pressure

my buddy just bought a knock off one on ebay for $35
and his doesNT have a vent either

why would it matter if your cap vented? bikes already have 2 hoses for venting( large for overflow and a small for vent). seems to me like they would be more than enough.

i was thinking along the same lines. if there is a hose for fuel to run out if i overfill it, couldnt vapors/pressure get out through there

the over flow tube on most bikes are connected to the well around the filler hole so if the cap doesn't allow the pressure to vent to the well then there is no vent and the tank will build pressure from the gas sloshing around

if you look at your tank with no cap on it you will see your filler hole and around the filler hole there is a well where the hole for the over flow is , if the filler hole is sealed from the well and the cap doesn't vent then the tank will build pressure ..

so when you say "pressure", you mean "vaccum"? in that case wouldn't it make it harder for the fuel pump to work?

i'm confused...but thats normal... so, if it wasn't venting what happens when you take the cap off. does air rush in or out.
