Noob question about fork rebound adjustment

1) Just want to get an idea of where most of you have your fork screw settings at... soft? hard? med?

2) Does it effect stoppies if its set too hard/soft?

3) Front tire has to be off the ground when changing correct?

Thanks in advance

I never take the front wheel off ground when i do it

I usually go 1 turn maybe 1.5 turns out from hard.

Re: Noob question about fork rebound adjustment

my service manual sais there are 2 adjustments for the front forks. The rebound which is right on top and the compression which is at the bottom. It sais that the factory setting for the compression is 1 1/4 turns out. Just wondering what everyone else has theirs set at, or is this f4i specific?

Re: Noob question about fork rebound adjustment

the smaller nut on top of a fork is a preload adjustment, and the screw part on top is for compression and the one at the bottom of the for rebound. . .

atleast thats how my 1000rr was

most guys go all the way hard for stoppies

Your right, i was reading the manual wrong. I set them all 1 1/2 out from seated position, lets see what difference it makes ?!

The preload nut is 3 threads showing. Stock is 4 threads so I only tightened it up a lil, I think?!
