636 ticking

Trying 50/50 circles yesterday. Got 2 then stalled it at 12 and had no where to go so bike just fell directly on its right side from 12.
Now this is easily the hardest hit its taken and shitty part is ive maybe rode the bike 10 times.

Anyway, does anybody have an idea of what the ticking could be, from a hard hit on the right side. The ticking increases with revs. Ill be ripping the bike apart today.

Re: 636 ticking

i have the plastic gas tank fairing off.
I can hear the ticking from the top right side of the motor. Kind of right under the right side of the airbox.

Re: 636 ticking

bent valve....

make sure its coming from the top though, ticking tends to resonate and sound like its coming from somewhere else... take a long screw driver and put it to different places on the block and put your ear to it.. where its loudest is where its coming from

Re: 636 ticking

k, ill do that and listen. If it is a bent rod is that something i can just swap out with a straight one or will it need to be rebuilt. I didnt run the engine very much after i heard the ticking.

Re: 636 ticking

ummm, not sure. It just has a ticking that was not there before the drop. I would say no though, just a tick, tick, tick, tick, going with the RPMS of the motor

Re: 636 ticking

thats what i was hoping it was.
But it was a hard hit so i wont be surprised if something internal got fucked.
I will say though, 50/50 circles are FUN.

Re: 636 ticking

Hey LOWS10 i have done that 3 times now. My friend is on his 4th head.
I guess your cage mounts on the upper right hand motor mount ??
When the bike pan cakes it bends the exhaust valve stem. You will find when ya strip it it has distorted the head and the head is prob scrap. In a bad case the valve jams open slightly and hits the piston. Not good.
The other normal thing to happen is it cracks the engine mount and that also houses the timing chain then it pisses oil every where. Like i said i have cracked three heads now.
My friend managed to put a new valve in and had the valve guide remachined to fix it.
There are 5 riders in our team and only one of us has not done this now !!!!
Good luck
