03-04 vs 05-06 636 forks (yeah i know)
I know there has probably been a few post like this already but i'm not going to lie, i'm too flippin lazy to do research. I have both sets and want to make one super dope stunt piece. Here my question. Has anyone had any problems with the 05-06 forks? I know there is a set screw on the 03-04's so if they do get loose you can tighten them up and put a new set screw in. There is not one on the 05-06's. 05-06's have bigger rotors and not to mention look better. i have put a lot of time into my 03-04's making them not leak or loose so i would hate to get rid of them for the 05-06's if they aren't any better. thanks for the help.

The only diff. is the brakes. They both break, and as far as the valving goes, the internals are very simalar. You can achieve the same brakes on the 03-04 by running 05 rotors and 10mm spacers on the calipers. If you have the 05's and rotors, run those.

i swaped to the 05-06 forks and fender but still use my 03 rotors, calipers, and wheel. i just heard the 03-04 forks were weak and can snap on stoppies. my brakes are fine.

well people dont sleeve them or swap them for no reason and when i got the 636 there was a lot of talk on SL about them snapping. its happened to a few on here and i wasnt gonna wait around for it to happen to me. i have zero problems with my set up as of now.

Im using 10m spacers with 03-04 forks and 05-06 brakes, waiting to get 07-08 forks cause there showa's not KYB's like 03-06 forks. Haven't heard about the showa's breaking yet.
