yamaha yz426 stunt bike?
Well I am sure this has be discussed some where before. I did as much research as I could on this site and all I could get of use was what wheels to get. I picked up a 2001 yz426 dirt bike for 1000. Its a none title bike that I will most likly trailer to parking lots. My main goal was to make it my dirt bike but I soon realized that since it has no title it is extremely impossible to get it stickered. So here I am wanting to turn it into a stunt bike. I ride a 06 R1 with all the goodies but that is my queen and I do not want to crash it doing stunts. So I figure I should use the YZ. My main questions are what engine and suspension mods should I go with to make this thing street/stunt worthy. At this point I am thinking maybe a simple fork cartridge change and rear spring shock change should be good. Also what about ride hieght? I want to lower ride hieght for better center of gravity. I also wonder about the engine. What mods should be done to make it stunt/street worthy? I know making sure coolant is full at all times is needed b/c of the high rpms with stunting, but what about engine oil? What mods can I do to make sure the engine isnt starved so much oil? I believe those are the main things I should consitrate on. Also, does anyone know where I can get a good rear hand brake kit, and what about gearing? I figure a big pizza dish rear sproket should work lol.

Re: yamaha yz426 stunt bike?
I think quite a few people use the Rekluse handbrake kit on dirt bikes. My ttr has a rear drum so I just 'fabricated' my own handbrake setup.
As far as the motor goes, I'm pretty sure those things have a dry-sump set up (I know the 450s do...) which means you don't have to worry about oil starvation, so no need to overfill.
Unless the suspension is worn, I probably wouldn't worry about doing any mods to it. I'm sure the stock suspension will work just fine for stunting.
One thing to watch out for is overheating. Those motors get really hot real fast if the bike isn't moving. Personally I'd install a couple small fans on the back of the radiators and wire them up to a switch so you turn them on whenever you are working on slow stuff. You will have to get your stator rewound though in order to provide enough electricity for the fans.
