This was completely unintentional on my part...I finished up a deep tank dent on my 05 636 last week and was expecting to have to drill/cut/bend the splash guard under the cap to be able to fill up gas normally. Well, theres a hump in the tank that the splash guard is pretty much sitting on and to the left of the guard, there is an opening exactly big enough for the gas nozzle to fit in and fill up at full strength without any spills. Heres a few pics. I didn't have a gas nozzle on hand so i stuck a 7/8" clip-on tube in the hole so yall can see what I mean. This should help some peeps out there I guess. No more pissed off friends waiting for u to gas up.

damn glad u posted this. I did a dent just like this a few months back. still waiting for it to warm up to paint it, but now I think ill wait to cut out the splash guard.

 

Nice, I didnt have to cut mine out of my R6 Either... and I can still fill up with gas at fukk strength as welll. I was very happy about that,.

nice, looks like my dent but i my splash guard is touching the hump and dunno if i can fill up with gass???, but how do you cut the splash guard, and u said to possibly drilling it.

 

hope you got a small bottom cuz that dent is too deep for me. that lip will kill the back of your legs.one of my boys has a tank dent like that on a 05 and its instant agony . you did a great job though. it came out sick.this is def the disadvantage of the 05-06 half tanks. i wish the 07-08 tanks would fit the 05-06 636's.they are full steel again.

 

ive seen this dent in person and it is one of the finest! i wish i could still put a nozle in my tank my **** takes forever to fill up at the pump. thats why i just cary that lil gas can around in the truck with me now.

 

ya on my old '03, i just drilled 3 or 4 holes in the splash guard to help the gas flow in easier.

 

i hear that! lol im not looking forward to moustrapping anything from seated in the tank tho...cross my fingers haha....
