Question Handbrakes

Just wondering..... how is everyone running their handbrakes? I just got an MSR EZ clutch, and a GSXR 1000 master that I am using for the handbrake. I was setting it up, and running into some problems with the fit. With the clutch to the inside of the brake, it rubs a bunch of things on the brake. With the clutch on the outside, the adjustment **** sits right on the Banjo bolt. I got it to where it feels okay, not much of a gap between the 2..... but it is a damn tight fit.

Seeing how you guys do it will definitely help me out.

Very respectfully,
Buz

Re: Handbrakes

take your controls off, and unless you have a master designed for the left side its gonna hit, you just have to make it work the best you can.

Re: Handbrakes

u know the part that the brake line bolts to the bars its like a half c then you put the 2 bolts in.....get a second one and longer bolts then put that in front of the brake it will act as a space and free up lots of extra options...did that make sense? look at the brake master and it will.

Another Example...

02 F4i - Controls, Handbrake & Clutch On Stock Bar.

This is how mine is setup. I still need to cut down the length of the levers but you can get the idea.

even though you were able to fit it on there with the controls, if you remove them you will have a lot more adjustment to make it confortable, youll need it once you start to progress and learn to two finger your levers.

switch them around. you do not have to grab the end of the HB. if you would on mine i am sure it would toss you over the front

Re: Handbrakes

you gotta grind on the master alot. also swap the clutch adjuster for a brass/steel one.

Re: Handbrakes

this is my 636. it was set up like this but had a bolt for a spacer... my 954 is the same with the spacer for either the clutch or brake wichever makes it have more room. I didn't have to grind or do anything besides that. Though I still am not great with 2 fingering these ****** it is in a very user friendly way and was easy to set up. hope that helps

Re: Handbrakes

i have the same setup with gxsr master, and yah its a tight fit but you can make it work... dont know about you guys but i still have to grab the end of my hb to lock up and thats with a dual caliper setup. helped my boy install a magura and he has a **** ton of options and clearances. if you dont want a master flipped upside down you can always get a hydraulic clutch master which is whats on the new gxsrs and ducatis. ima try switching my masters, putting my gxsr master for my front brakes and my stock 636 master for the handbrake looks like theirs much more clearance with the 636 master and more leverage.

ps: is anyone else having a problem with the stopping power of a gxsr master and dual caliper setup? "trying to figure out if i have a fucked up master"
