difference between stunt/street Tygersharks?
whats the actual difference. got my eye on the street Apex for 210$ , the stunt Apex costs 290$ the street one looks real good on their site, looks like a full cage with springloaded slider. looks stronger than a cage i could make myself.. anybody knwo the real difference?

The street cage does not have the lifetime warranty. It is also smaller/lighter than the stunt version.
If you're going to run the cage and think you're going to give it hell, buy the stunt version.

stunt cage all the way.The warranty beats all!! I bent mine pretty good and sent it back. They sent me a whole new cage freshly powder coated. You just pay for shipping to them, they take care of everything.
Also the newer versions have a nice cross brace now making them even stronger

the thing is, i dont give my cages hell. the apex street looks WAY sturdier than anything i could do myself on that bike, and way sturdier than for instance a FI cage.
i have had the homemade cage on the f4i for 2,5 years.. still good. so the streetcage doesnt have lifetime warranty? mind you i am in europe so shipping etc is expensive and takes HELLA long so that sucks for the whole warranty thing.. check out this crash at 9m20

that is probably the hardest blow it has ever taken. and that rarely happens.. just some drops here and there, i always hang on to the bike for as long as i can..

I doubt anyone would use solid tubing. hollow is infact stronger, and more resistant to bending, so i dont see how his statement could have been accurate.

Re: difference between stunt/street Tygersharks?
Nope I have both and they are both made of solid rod not tube...
The difference is everything is smaller and lighter on the street cages, the size of the rods...And even the size of the sliders, springs, and the tube they slide into...So you dont have to drill as big of a hole in your fairings like you do for the stunt cages...
And with the new cross bar that comes on the stunt cages, they are 100% pure beef!

If the cage is on an F4i it wont have the cross brace. You also don't need it because the mounting points are so close the cage is really stout. When you place your order ask for a couple extra aluminum spacers/bolts. They'll bend slowly over time. If you replace them when needed that cage is bulletproof!

Re: difference between stunt/street Tygersharks?
So I started looking for pics of how to install it. Cause I was in an argument with my freind about drilling holes or not...My thinkin was why would they bend it like that if you have to drill a hole, IMO the onlyr reason to do that is so you dont have to drill an whole...And the fucked up part is I found pics of both, some people drill a hole and others run it infront of the bodywork without drillling holes....I am not going to drill holes....
As for street vs stunt......For my street bike that I do some stunts on I will be running a street cage....I only drop that bike once or twice a season...For my lot bike its stunt cage for sure...Im going on my 3rd season with the same TS, and all Ive ever had to do is replace those aluminum spacers Apex is talking about..And replace one slider that cracked in half...This CJ3 cage has lasted me longer then any cage Ive had....

i know for a fact on the 05-06 you have to drill for the cross bar, those bends in the bar are to fit it around your header... i was told that he wasnt making the cross bars anymore because after awhile they bend..? ive had no problems with mine yet so i dont know. ill ask bruce on monday at work, keep in mind if you dont like what you see on the website you can design your cage anyway you want and bruce will make you a custom setup just for your application. costs more but kinda nice when you can customize your cage, he made me a custom one and everyone trips out when they actually look at mine. thats also because i sent him 3 cages back in a matter of two weeks from me bending them i definately think stunt is way better then street, i can still corner with my stunt cj3 no problems, then again im no knee dragger

Re: difference between stunt/street Tygersharks?
The bend is there to compensate for people who may have aftermarket headers. You should have to drill a small hole to fit the cross bar regardless of its routing. It should look like a U sitting in front of the headers. You can also ask for a straight piece. I always order them with a straight bar, it's a little stronger and I also use it to support my radiator when I'm not running side plastic. Pancake central with that cage and a Sick Innovations subcage, there is nothing that doesn't defy physics that combo can't take.
