I have an 05 gsxr with a 60 tooth rear and i can make the speedo read 188, sure the hell aint doin no 188, 140 if im lucky. No 600 will do 200 stock.

 

wow we usually cruise arround at that speed....u need to check somethin out on that thing.

 

sammy actuall the 05 gsxr 600 will do exactly the 187 that it tops out at stock i kno for a fact.

one of my buddies is a cop and we clockd him doin that.

or maybe it was the red/black paint that gave it 200 more hp to do that?..

when i had the stock gearing, fastest i had itt was like 158 on rural hwy with out much traffic, and it was starting to wind out

 

exactly. most people dont realize how much the gearing can screw the speedo over. all it does is read the rpms from the output shaft of the transmission and calculate that into a speed. if you go from a 45 tooth to a 60 tooth in the back, you are going to be reading the same speed at a set rpm, but in reality, you will be going 25% or 33%(im not sure which) slower than the reading you are getting.

 

except for the ones with a speedo sensor on the front wheel.

 

right...but if i remember right, just about all bikes put the speedo sensor on the rear wheel. or am i just getting confused? now you got me questioning myself.

yeah...sorry about the thread jack. but seriously, if you want a bike that will have a top end, get a real 600cc sportbike(inline 4, not a v-twin), and dont excessively gear it. I would say you could easily add 5 teeth and still outrun that sv with no problem. if you went up 10, you should start to be close to being at the same speed as the sv. anything after that and i think you would be fast as all hell accelerating, but you wont be getting any huge top speeds

 

hey may be im stupid but i know my speedo said i was going 218(mph) when i last looked at it and i aint no squid been rideing for seven years know so **** you all on that one but like i said maybe im just stupid

maybe u was lookin at it backwards and it really said 812 mph?
