06 gsxr exhaust on f4i

i saw an 06 gsxr 600 exhaust on a f4i........does anyone know how this was acomplished??..

was their a specific pipe bought at an auto shop to get the correct bend and then weld the three parts together, or was the pipe cut in half then re mounted somehow on the f4i???....

I bought a pit eck mid and slip on pipe for my f4i, but the mid pipe connceting to the header was way to big, about 1/2 on all sides..so rather than make a huge deal on it, i welded the old exhaust clamp off the stock f4i to this new pipe...at any rate it comes off all the time, I need a pipe that will stay, open headers seem to take away from the bike in addition to it being super loud at the spot...

I just need a pipe that fits, not gutted......will be willing to pay 100 bucks for one..plz help

Re: 06 gsxr exhaust on f4i

I tried ot put a couple different gsxr exhausts on my f4i (2005 gix 1000, and 2008 gix 750/600) I had them pushed into the cut off neck of a stock f4i pipe, mine werent welded just pushed in and clamped down.

I had to mess with them all the time, they would come loose, or hit the ground when the bike was on its side. it was just more trouble than it was worth for me. it pulled good and had lots of backpressure but it finally came off during a wheelie and I ran over and that was the last straw. if you have a welded one i would think itwould work alot better

Re: 06 gsxr exhaust on f4i

check craigslist for stock exhausts. people basically give away their stock ones on there.

Re: 06 gsxr exhaust on f4i

KJ had done this to his F4i. Try to find the thread on it he made. The search has never worked for me on here.

Re: 06 gsxr exhaust on f4i

I think I've seen that too somewhere... hmmmm.

I'm not sure how you'd have to do it either, I'm sure it can be done. You'd just have to play around with it and make it work...any pipe will work with most any exhaust but your'e probably going to have to weld up a good hanger for it or break a welder out at some point for something...

I have one off of my stock K6 600 if you want it to try... $25. + shipping and it's yours.

How does it work for you and not me? I could search "F4i" and the response will always yield no results.

I dunno.. All I did was search for threads started by kj, and it was like the 3rd one down.

This is the reason I have my stock can laying around, and also wanted to show what I did to my K6 with a dented up $40. old D&D can that I picked up at a cycle salvage yard.
I cut it down and used the clamps that it had on it when I found it in the lot. There was literally a hundred cans I couldv'e chosen from all of various sizes and price range, but I picked this one cuz of the location of the dent in the cannister, since it would be cut off, and the type of hangers it had on it were movable and I knew would allow me to mount it easier!
This thing really uncorked the bike big time, and sounds throaty as hell!!!! I love it! And this is easier to do a longer cannister under this bike cuz on an F4i, you'd have to cut down the midpipe unless you want a super short 4" long cannister like we did on my buddies bike the same day.
IMO they become too loud when they are like that and look like ****... mine is really borderline too loud, cuz I ripped out most of the packing on the inside too.

and save the comments, that POS cage is off that bike already and sold for $125.! F FI!
