Weld a cracked frame?

I cracked the frame or i guess the motor mounts on my 636
Anyone know if welding this will be strong or even safe to ride?
How should this be welded/repaired?
Do i need to heat treat and if so how?
How should i brace to avoid recurrence?
Any info and pics of repaired frames would be great.

Pics of crack...

Thanks...

Re: Weld a cracked frame?

i assume the left side broke first ? damn fi cages ..

the one on the right side broke on the weld so that would probably be fine just re welding it but the one on the left side should definitely be reinforced

i only have a mig and your bike needs to be welded with a tig ..

a word of advise, have some one that uses a tig all day every day do it for you not just some one that uses a tig once in a while ..

as far as the price goes there is no way to tell , some people think welding is brain surgery and they want a million dollars

Re: Weld a cracked frame?

oh and if possible get it tacked into place before taking the motor out so you can be sure the mounts will line up

Re: Weld a cracked frame?

good thing that gangster *** FI cage didnt break, cheaper to replace the frame than one of them sry man had to, that sucks...Krazy Kyle will do it up if you send it to him, believe I read that in a pos tof his, it has to be welded then heat treated

Re: Weld a cracked frame?

Use an offset fish plate to reinforce the original weld.

Re: Weld a cracked frame?

I would say "when in deoubt, have it checked out"

My guy cracked his subframe and later put it together by some hand made items. It worked and still stunts and rides it (R6).
