Re: 2nd fan help
about the header wrap: at first i thought wtf that stuff keeps all the heat IN so the motor would get even hotter. buttttt i guess what it does is keep the hot air away from the radiator/engine? where can i get that stuff? i got an RR now and dont know if a 2nd fan will cut it!

Re: 2nd fan help
hey Guru, if you drain and flush your coolant system and fill it with 100%ENGINE ICE and wire your fans power into the running light so it comes on when you turn the key on and stays on than you will be good to go!!! see you in a week bro!!!

Re: 2nd fan help
ok since ive been dealing with the 636 cooling issue for about 3 good years now all of you are wrong but partially right lol. nothing is gonna solve that bike from doing what it does but heres what seems to help the best
engine ice
header wrap but do all the way to the can cause the exhaust runs next to the motor all the way out
and you must run two fans lol
wire the two fans to a switch but dont cut the stock wiring! just tap your hot wire from the switch to the hot wire to the fan. this way it still works as normal when your switch is off! VERY IMPORTANT make sure the fans are going the right way and you tapped the right wire lol. easy mistake! put a peice of paper on the front of the radiator and it should stick. lol
and do not tap into your lights hot wire or anything else!!!!!! reason is, the more power drain on that circuit will sometimes blow the fuse and durring a show or comp this will be a tradgity cause now your fan wont work unless u change what ever fuse. u need to run a separate switch coming from the battery directly. Trust i made that mistake! just tap it inline with your fans hot wire this way if you forget to turn them on theyll still kick on when ur temp gets up.
guru ill get you some pics in a bit when i get to the shop. but its really simple there are some mounts that are already there that u can use. i used another 636 fan. only thing is youll nee to bend the brackets a bit so the fan doesnt hit the fins and the bottom or the radiator doesnt have a mount to i just bent the lip on the bracket on the radiator lip and jb welding it. youll see what im talking about when u get into it. and id suggest beefing up your radiator tabs to cause theres more weight now so there gonna rip easier now. but ill tell ya it works really good now.
