wanna make custom exhaust for 636
i was lookin at how people cut down the factory pipes on the 636 all the time n i got mine just layn around in the garage so i desided im gonna try n make something cool out of it cus im bored with a broke leg... on youtube i see all these "moto gp" style pipes n they look bad *** n sound pretty mean. some of them have pretty much no muffler at all. isnt that bad for the valves? not enought back pressure? or can you run a bike with just header/manifold n not do any damage? i was interested in cuting the factory muffler all the way off n using the mid pipe n some custom fabricating to make a moto gp style pipe. maybe incorperate a short glass pack style muffler for a little car to help with noise n back pressure if thats an issue. i work at a shop that dose car exuast so i got access to all the welders, benders, n pipe if i need... just wanna know about how those little pipes affect the motor. HELP!!!

You can take the muffler off and ride it but its loud as **** and will run rough with no back pressure. Just cut down the stock exhaust, I think that looks good and sounds good to.
If you work at an exhaust shop shouldn't you know all this already?

Re: wanna make custom exhaust for 636
its more of a stereo/ rim shop n we lift cars, tint windows, lambo doors, n exhaust too. i dont usually do the exhaust but have access to all the tools n equipment. if i cut my stock pipe a lil before where the can starts n make it a clean slant cut, i wonder how itll run? how itll treat the valves?

on big v8 car and truck motors n **** you can run headers just fine, the more they breathe the better. but with these 600 cc fuel injected bikes it seems the only way to go to have a smooth idle and good running bike is bone stock setup! stock air filter and stock exhaust. this is what all the bells and whistles that control the way it runs were designed for. on my gixxer 750 i had a k&n filter and a hindle exhaust cut down and it ran like ****. my f4i is stock and runs great. on my fiddy i put a big bore kit that came with a big *** toilet bowl carb. ran like ****. put the stock carb back on the bike and it runs great. i think if u do decide to have some mods on your bike they all need to be working together and insync, like get a power commander and actually have it dyno tuned, dont just download the map thats approximate. i have never seen less exhaust restriciton hurt valves, but everybody knows and nobody can deny that backpressure gives you low end torque which = better idle tricks.
