Re: 04 636 weak idle?

ok i took the bike out last nite and its definatly stronger, more responsive and smoother not just on idle but through the whole rev range.

theres a few things i came across since this whole problem came up il list them all off so that it makes it easier for anyone else to elimate some of the causes.

1.the choke cable had some tension on it which might of been holding the choke open just a bit.

2.spark plugs were black! so replaced those.

3.the throttle bodies seemed a bit loose so maybe it didnt have a full seal.

4.the vaccum line plugs i was using didnt have a real tight fit so i cut off some tubing and screwed bolts into the end of it so it sealed it off completly.

5.adjusted the pilot air screw until the bike was more responsive.

not sure which one of those it was that fixed the problem but no doubt with that many things wrong they all had some kind of impact on the bikes performance.

I havent had a hard ride on it yet but il take it out this weekend to see how it runs, but just from last nites sesh its most definatly better than it was!
Thanks for everyones replies! hope this thread helps someone else it saved me $350 that the shop wanted to put it on the dyno and go over it!

back to idling around carparks!

nope didnt need too, i had a better look and it wasnt capped. and the other one had the vacum hose running vertically into it.

im thinking it might of been the throttle body/spark plugs that made the biggest difference.

who knows tho.
