economy

Re: economy
Yup. It was crazy...all of a sudden one day my bosses boss called me on my cell phone and asked me to justify the overtime I was entering during the past weeks. From that point on, they placed overtime under a fine microscope and only authorize it for emergencies and substation maintenance. Went from 45-55 hours per week to only 40 hours per week. Oh yea, they also temporarily froze our wages this year so nobody gets a raise. We're all hoping to still get profit sharing in February. I'll be pissed if they cancel that-its about 4,000 dollars of free cash.

Thats sort of the situtatio that happened at my job 40 hours or less then they just started cutting hours seemed like every other week. Kinda sucks because ive been there for 4 years and really enjoy it. On top of that theres new management and know ones fond of that idea lol. Yo Armenian im also armenian what is your last name.

Yeah my work stopped any OT. If you accure OT you leave on friday early lol.. DHL is closing all US domestic shipping services in Jan which means no use for me to support the software. So as of next month I could not have a job.. For sure by end of Jan

Re: economy
Luckily, my job is kind of guaranteed as long as the boss can keep contracts up. We're working a multi million dollar project on Sprint/Nextel's behalf. It requires long weeks sometimes and i'm never in the same place more than a month or two.. but it's about 15,000 more a year than I was making at IBM and I get OT and full benefits.. so i can't complain.
My mom is a nurse, and had her hours cut down because she's at the top of her pay scale.
My dad owns his own business, and has had to raise prices to compensate for fuel, and then his industry is driven by expendable cash, so as money gets tighter his clients get fewer and far between. Luckily, he has some good connections, and a son who'll help him pay the bills if need be. I've been stacking my OT pay for just such the case, if my mom or dad needs help, i wanna be able to toss them a few hundred bucks and say "dont worry about it".. it's the least i could do for them.
I feel bad for most of the people losing their jobs due to our countries lack of financial restraint. It's coming, that the truly self sufficient will thrive, while those who aren't worth a **** suffer. I don't mind, i got my *** covered.
sorry for the novel. heh.
