Re: MMI vs. Wyotech

I mostly hear negative things about them, first of all they're expensive for the low annual wages that they train you to earn.

Seen alot of guys graduate from MMI and not able to get jobs in the market, if that doesn't bother you then you're straight.

ive talked to both schools. heres what i know:

MMI: 30,000 for a year n a half.
Wyotech: 9 months n only 20,000

MMI: Hire rate is only 35% and only 10% of grads stay in industry
Wyotech: 85% hire rate and 95% stay in industry.

in my opinion go to Wyotech. they seem like a more fundamental school.

I went to MMI in orlando. I have had three jobs since then because I have moved around a lil bit. I have always been able to get a job within a week or so of applying to places. You do start out at low wages, but u can end up making good money. It is what you make of it.

Re: MMI vs. Wyotech

they are both great schools if your happy to shell out the money and then get a job at a dealer making $15.00/hr while the shop charges the customer $75.00/hr

**** suckers!!!!

there is a ton that they will teach you that you probably wont learn at another school.... but with the knowledge you leave with, its gonna be tough to find a place that is willing to pay you for what you know. you'd be better off finding investors later and opening your own shop so more of that 75/hr goes into your pocket.

Re: MMI vs. Wyotech

Those schools are a big waste of money. If your going to spend $30,000 go to a real college, working on cars and bikes for a living sucks...imo

Re: MMI vs. Wyotech

I had 3 friends go to Wyotech.. 2 were back in a month.. they said it was worthless, could have learned more at the community college in town for a fraction of the price. My other buddy that stayed didn't mind it.. But would you rather have a $20,000 debt when you could go elsewhere for $3,000 and get the same education

Re: MMI vs. Wyotech

I have taken alot of classes at Wyotech.....its frustrating as hell to get the teachers to actually teach. Not saying they will all be like that but I feel they had the equipment and tools but the teachers sucked assssss. They barely knew anything themselves. Every question you ask they say well read the manual. Then when I had a issue where the manual was saying something different from the teacher the teacher will say the manual is wrong. ....even though multiple manuals show the same.

I would try MMI

Why would you want a nice brand new bike to work on? You think that's how it is in the real world?

Thats funny you say that. Both my friends that came back said they pretty much just throw you in a room and expect you to know what to do, with giving you little help.

yep that is it....

imo i think most of these new cars and bikes are built disposable. at least in the eyes of insurance agencies.

Re: MMI vs. Wyotech

i've got the gi bill which is now $47,556. and then on top of that i have a $40k navy college fund. so mmi's tuition dont make a pimple on my ***, but i'd hate to waste it on a school that doesnt teach you anything just so you can go make 10 dollars an hour. i am collecting maximum unemployment right now and i have zero idea what i want to do for a living or what school to go to. turnin wrenches is fun but it aint gonna pay the bills. sure you always hear stories about somebodys brother that works for bmw and makes a gazillion dollars a year. but thats like .05% of the mechanic population and those stories are usually bullshit anyway imo. oh well the price is rights about to come on.

Re: MMI vs. Wyotech

it would be way easier to get a part time job and live in orlando then daytona while going to school too. Daytona's job market is pritty weak, i think i get asked for a job about twice a week from wyotech kids
