full fairing clipon clearance

ive always been rockin it streetfightered and now with full fairing it only seems the f.i. clipons will go if i have them angled big time like stock. i cant even have them almost straight just angled a little without them hitting the fairing stay.

Re: full fairing clipon clearance

they are freestyle ingenuity so no matter what way they still wont clear. i remember on my gixxer i never had this problem because the clipons went under the triple.

Re: full fairing clipon clearance

im having the same issue with my f4I right now! i dont like them angled back in the stock position. im running woodcrafts, and in the position that i like them, i can only turn the front wheel about 1/2 way before the levers hit the fairing stay!

Re: full fairing clipon clearance

manly we need pics to see your problem

options

1 636 clip ons
2 put the stock clip ons under triple and cut out fairing
3 HOHEY triple with 929/954 front end and cut fairings

Re: full fairing clipon clearance

Remember that all aftermarket clipons move the bars forward, and therefore things like levers and masters hit stays or guages sooner...

The reason is your OEM clipons are 1 piece and the bar comes out of the side, not like aftermarket clipons where the bars are seperate from the clipon. And because of the way the clipon holds the bars, the bars go infront of the fork tubes...So your moving your bars 1" forward with most standard aftermarket clipons...

And then to top it off your riding an F4i, which has the least amount of clearance out of any bike Ive tried to turn bars out on....The 600RR is just as bad....Where a 636 can have the bars turned out totally straight and still not hit anything....Hondas are tight upfront, thats just something you have to deal with...

Re: full fairing clipon clearance

f4i is a nightmare to run full fairing. I had my vortex clips at pretty much the stock angle and I had to run my ez-pull on the inside of the bar as opposed to between the grip and handbrake. That was the only way I could keep my GSXR radial from hitting the speedo and upper stay. some masters might give you a little more clearance but doubtful. The Brembo looks to be the smallest... I'm street fightered now and I have my bars turned out a tiny bit more and It feels better than the stock position.

i thought about running the clip-ons under the triple and maybe it would help, but im not sure if anyone has tried that before.

Convertibars... .......OR....hack your upper 2/3 down..LOL, or deal with them slightly turned in. Convertibars will allow you to turn out fully with a full fairing.....expensive, but well worth it, IMO.

ya. i have already cut my upper down, i even took off some of the fairing stay. its not a huge deal i guess, but i just like **** to be right. im kind of picky when it comes to my set up. i always ran dirt bars, and 3/4 fairing before, so i never had a problem.

yeah but i already have the f.i. clipons. i'd love to get the convertibars but then thats big $ plus i'll have to get longer throttle cables, brake cables, etc. so youre talkin like several hundred bucks.
which will be rediculously more than i want to spend on this project which is $0.00
like johnnyp said, i think my only option is to angle them hella like stock, or hack the hell out of my fairing stay and fairing itself. but then there would be no support for it! those mirror mounts are mainly what holds up that headlight and fairing. so the minute i rattrap or just set a whoolie down hard that ***** all gonna crumble. wow i checked fullthrottles website, they are actually called darwin bars. $280 bucks? **** that. dudes on crack.

Re: full fairing clipon clearance

lol i wonder if you could just take the tubes out of the f.i. clipons, grab a set of renthals, cut the middle out and then make your own darwin convertibars!

its an f4i! the upper has been cut, and also some of the fairing stay! there just isnt enough room on the f4i. i dont even have the gauges on. its not a huge deal, im just picky about that ****, and i dont want the clip-ons in the stock position! i was just wondering if anyone knew of a quick fix, that i havnt tried. looks like im gonna have to put a 929 front end on, with the ho hey tripple, and 636 clip-ons. or the convertibars, which are 320.00.

I hear ya....it's a spendy upgrade, for sure. One of my boys hacked his fairing about 2/3 off, and the top few inches of the stay, then drilled holes in both, and zip-tied it nice and tight. There's plenty of support......just looks kinda shitty being so short, IMO. Zip ties rock..
