I have the chance to get a cheap power commander III usb system.

The problem is that it doesn't come with software, or a usb cable.

Is this a problem? Can I use a general usb cable and still download the maps off of powercommander.com without the software?

Dl the software off the PC site and just use any usb cable

It's a mini-usb cable, you can buy it for $3 online anywhere. The software is downloadable for free from www.powercommander.com like JMZ said. I just loaded a new map into mine last night, super easy to do. Just search the website for your make, model and year and it will give you a few options to choose from based on what exhaust and airfilter you have on your bike.

Just remember, your downloading some random *** map that worked on someone elses bike in different conditions


Your bike will never be right, unless you put it on a dyno and make your own map.

yeah... i gotta powercommander unless your gonna drop the dime to get it dyno tuned its pointless and actually a negative thing.

everyone where i live thinks its like a powerchip that just plugs in and gives you more power...

If the deals really good just buy it and sell it for more.


but yes software is downloadable of the net and cord is a couple buck like said earlier

There's a shop near my house with a dyno where they do custom maps for $50. I can only assume there's people everywhere doing this for a small fee, it's worth it if they know what they're doing.

power commanders are worthless unless you have a dyno and lots of time tweaking the maps.
