SI question
was wondering if anyone else has purchased the "tail Saver" from SI for a F4i? If so did you have any troubles mounting it. Seems simple enough yet this thing was a complete nightmare to install. Holes dont line up, the top section that goes under the rear seat was hitting the tail fairing...which I ended up cutting too low to get it to clear.. I have no idea how they expect to mount it. The rear section has to go under some tabs under the rear seat which i also broke during installation...lol
This is the third product that I have ordered from SI that was horrible during installation. I got a twelve bar in the past...no instructions saying you have to drill out the subframe to mount the bar... I got a sub cage which I had to fight like crazy to get it mounted, now this tail saver which basically costs me so much frustration during installation that I f-uped my tail. I orderd a new tail but no way in hell I will use the tail saver again. In fact I also ordered a round bar for another bike. I know this should mount up similar to the twelve bar so it should not be that bad but i have had enough. I wil not use it and I already order another round bar with a different company. Very frustrating when you spend good money for what is supposed to be a good product only to have one hell of a time trying to get it mounted/installed.

Re: SI question
thats not fair. if you dont know how to mount it, which is not your fault, send an email to SI or just ask/search on here. I have read lots of threads asking how to mount this and that, way better choice than go ahead and **** the product lol. Just my advice a friend of mine ordered a SI cage half year ago and yes it toke like 2 hours and a half to get it mounted, but the final result is just brilliant

Re: SI question
+1 SI makes great products, if you don't know how to put something on dont **** up the product or your bike ask for help! Maybe the part was bad and you could have called IAN and got a new 1?

The tail saver was a nice idea, but you can use a 4/2 piece of wood. Search and you shall find

Re: SI question
slow down stud, i bought a tail saver from SI and it was fine and it was also a tight fit but the end result is worth it.
i have also seen there cage in action, johnf here on stuntlife, drops his bike more than anyone i know and that thing has taken a beaten and has convinced me to buy a cage from SI so easy on the bashing SI makes awesome products and im sure if you called ian you probably would not have posted this thread.

Re: SI question
Mine didn't line up either and it was raping my fairing. I emailed Ian, he told me I just needed to dremel off that lip (I thought maybe it was supposed to clear it, no biggie). I haven't had a chance to yet, hopefully this weekend, but I doubt shaving that lip off will get the holes to line up right. It seems like the right side mount is tweaked, but if it is, I'll just run down to the local machinist and have him drill it out a bit and use a washer. Seems like a great product, just like all their other stuff :

Re: SI question
Nope it's conclusive. You suck at life. It's not a coincidence you are the only one that ever starts a thread complaining about how inept you are and that you can't simply figure out how to put things together. Never mind the fact that hundreds have installed the same products without issue that you look at like a caveman holding a lighter. Give up.
