Re: Aprilla sxv 4.5 or 5.5

I have rode both and the 5.5 is the ****. The fuel injection is a little snatchy and the exhaust will melt the taillight on either one but they are sick. They need taller gearing from stock also.

Re: Aprilla sxv 4.5 or 5.5

From what Ive read I think its the cc's 450 and 550 but most write ups seem to be in Italian so Im not sure.Does it feel under powered kinda like the DRZ?

The swing arm looks sick, but I havent seen one in person yet

Re: Aprilla sxv 4.5 or 5.5

Im doing demos on the aprilia sxv 4.5 during XDL events and at dealerships accross the country. I can honestly say this bike is stunt ready right out of the box! Not much need for gearing either...Im able to clutch it up and do circles stock! Havent rode the 5.5 so dont have any input on it.

Re: Aprilla sxv 4.5 or 5.5

I rode one of the 450s and loved it. Like Dan said, from 0 miles that bike stock was more fun than anything I've rode to date. It's one hell of a toy!

Re: Aprilla sxv 4.5 or 5.5

Dont they require lots of maintenance, like pistons at 15k miles or something crazy like that.

Re: Aprilla sxv 4.5 or 5.5

We had issues with the petcock leaking on the 550 with about 100 miles on it. The thing was a beast though. Super fun!!!!! Put a exhaust on it and it is ******* loUD!!!!!!

Thats not too bad really, 15k miles is what... 20,000 hours or more? for a production race bike thats a Lot. modern 2 stroke (the top end may be cheaper to rebuild) only gets 100 hours or so before a rebuild. the 4 strokes, yammie and honda 450cc's are Supposed to last a long time too, but I'm sure its not even close to that long for race conditions.
