sounds like a choke, or a fast idle, cold start feature, or something like that is stuck.
I don't know about the SV's but on my Aprilia there was a dial on the right clip on that you would turn up when you start it, and then once it warms up if it was still turned up the idle would do everything you just described. If you didn't turn it back down that is....
It would crank up the idle if you turned while it was running anytime, and turn it up all the way it would rev to like 8 or 9G's!
The newer ones omited this feature for an automatic one. Maybe that's what your bike has and it's stuck?? Just an idea...

i always start the bike with the chocke off but ill check it. the bike will rev up once it warms up so mayb ill let it sit idleing and crank the idle down when it warms up, i just dont get why it skyrockets whne hte clucth is engaged?
