Re: Rookie needs more help!
Nice thread!
Im at this point also....
sort of a platform when it looks like there is no progress and u will never learn to keep the ******* BP..
been messing with it for about 4 weeks now
So what u guys are saying is that you just keep practising (ofcourse) and just go behind the bp? still a little bit further right!

Re: Rookie needs more help!
I am a rookie my self...I ride with Tony Prez, Old Man Roger and Phil....They all tell me different things but one thing that worked for me was when Phil told me to just ***** up and bring it back all the way...He told me to hop off and just pull the clutch in and walk behind it. The first time I did it I got better very quickly because I relized that I wan't as far back as I thought and you will also feel better knowing you have that safety blanket of knowing you know how to put it there....One thing I will add when you hit the bar and are off the bike walking behind it you might want to shut it off the first couple times, I didn't and wasn't use to bringing down and I flipped it over a few times because I dropped the clutch when I was trying to bring it dow. Good luck hope that helps.

Re: Rookie needs more help!
about the whole brake pads goin being the reason why he's slamming down... go slap yourself . worn brake pads dont make you slam down, as long as theirs material they will work the same as they did new. and the squeek is from them being glazed, meaning theirs excessive material on the pad which can cause brakes to make noise and even cause brake fade, or their ebcs... only time brakes dont work due to wear is when their so far gone your piston cant extend anymore.
and if you really want to save yourself a huge headache give it some gas on your way down to soften the drop. i feel bad for your forks! keep it up, you'll get there

haha nice!
i feel that if you have a purchased 12 bar and you are afraid to scrape then you should also slap yourself! i learned by scrapin my yoshimaru carbon fiber pipe... and i mean learned, after grinding half my cone down i made my own pos scrape bar which when it hits it kicks me to the sides cause my subframe is crooked. just sack up and wear your gear, remember you should be doing less than 10 mph if your at idle, and im sure you can run faster then that JUST DO IT!

Re: Rookie needs more help!
yah those knee pads come in handy, do they move a lot for you? only way i could keep them from fallin was to wear some bmx shin guards underneath... or is it just my skinny *** legs thats the problem? remember prolly 90% of stunting is overcoming the fear, just like snowboarding and other extreme sports, once you do it once your not as scared, after that it just gets more and more comfortable and more natural to you.

Re: Rookie needs more help!
Good Thread Rod. Great tips guys. Can't wait to ride this weekend. Instead of planning that your gonna wreck (like ya always do, LOL) envision yourself scraping and riding away cleanly for a chance. LOL U think Jordan thought to himself that he would throw up a brick in Game 7 of the Finals or did he see himself draining it to 3 peat again. LOL Positive attitude=Positive results! But who am I to give advise, I'm still a step or to behind ya...but not for long. LOL C-ya this weekend dogg. Better not rain Sunday.
