Ya, the economy is definitely in a shitty place, and it's only getting worse. I owned a mortgage company until a few months ago, I closed the doors. So, I am directly affected. Once the Lending industry & real estate market took a **** everything else was soon to follow. Everyone was living off their equity, constantly doing Cash-Out Refi's and once that ceased they didn't have that extra cash for all the luxuries of life. Add increasing gas prices and then people really start hurting.
With all that said, I felt it real hard when I shout the co. doors, but I shortly found another job and now I'm chill'n again. Regardless the state of the economy, if you want it bad enough you can make it happen.

I sell less mortgages cause the media makes people think that the economy is bad. People read threads like this and think the economy is bad. Really if you have good credit have a job and pay your bills like you should then it's pretty easy to get a loan. So yes the image of the economy going to hell is effecting me.

I have been off work for a year and been looking for a job that long and the county I live in has the highest unemployment rate of the state. I have travled up to 40 miles to find a job and there are no jobs around here.My bike has been broke all summer and I dont have the extra funds to fix that **** not to mention got a kid on the way. Could be worse tho.

I ride the bike more to work that's for sure. It's geared a bit low for it but it still gets almost twice the gas mileage my truck does.
And as stated b/4, a lot of people are just making it seem like the economy is bad. And I am tired of everything being blamed on gas prices. Everytime I go to a McDonalds and the price has gone up I ask why. They keep saying gas went up. The drinks in the machine at work went up $.15 a month ago. I asked why, they said gas prices. Let's do the math. How many of those ******* drinks fit on that truck? I bet it's at least 1000. That's an extra $150 to cover gas? Didn't you make enough profit in the first 50 years you were in business? Gotta keeps those quarterly figures up though right? And you know they have more drinks on 1 truck than that. And we let you use our electricity to run that machine at our place of business?
USPS goes up on postage. Not just a little bit but a lot. All of a sudden it costs $1 more to ship the same package across the same state? C'mon now.
In our area they say unemployment is up. It is that's for sure but not b/c employers can't afford the help. It's b/c they are lowballing everyone that applies. My g/f made about $16/hr and got let go. It's been over 2 months and no job although she applies for at least 5 a week. And she was applying b/4 she left that job. She has had a couple of offers but who the hell wants to drive a 40 mile round trip to make $8/hr. Guess what? Your first hour of every day pays for you to get to and from work that day. God forbid your car break down and you have to fix it. These jobs should pay at least $13/hr but they offer $8 for people that have the experience and know how they need. Then, what happens next? You get some dipshit in there that doesn't know what they are doing and b/4 you know it you are going bankrupt. Not one person in the business will cause bankruptcy but if you start replacing 1/2 your staff w/ people making 1/2 the money they should then you get a half-*** finished product. Then this makes the economy look even worse b/c all of a sudden businesses are shutting down. Not b/c they can't make money. It's b/c they don't want to spend the money it takes to make money.
Sorry, got off subject but once I started I couldn't stop. I am just tired of hearing unemployments up, gas prices are up, pay is down, mortgage rates are up, blah, blah, blah.
