looking 4 gearing advice on my 01 zx6r

Right now im runnin -1 in the front and +3 on the rear (+6 total ) and i didnt feel a lot of differance from the stock gearing. Im tired of poppin wheelies on the hwy and wanna have a gearing setup on my bike where i can cluch up slow wheelies and do circles but still ride on the street and do 50 60 mph. any gearing advice for a rear sprocket size? id hate to spend too much $$$ trying size after size, lol.

Re: looking 4 gearing advice on my 01 zx6r

Gearing wont make you ride a slow wheelie.

Gearing will make almost no difference for your wheelies until you are wheeling STEADY under 15mph..

Now doing wheelies under 10mph, and doing circles, are easier with gearing. But if you can't rock idle, you have no reason to re-gear! You have PLENTY of gearing right now.

edit: and incase you think OMR is just a badass, and thats why he can do it on stock sprockets..

Here is my squid ***, the first day I learned to control a scrape, stock gearing..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sucTCeLpJjY

I also was hitting 2+ circles on stock gearing before I re-geared my bike

gearing makes learning a whole lot easier

I lfirst scraped on a 98-02 zx6r with -1 +3 gearing

I put a +6 on there and it got easier real quick

Well from the geared bikes I tried, and watching my friends add gearing before they are ready, all I've noticed is them get a whole lot more choppy compared to there super smooth wheelies with stock gearing..

And wouldn't -1 +3 pretty much be the same as +6?

Re: looking 4 gearing advice on my 01 zx6r

Iv seen people who are not ready for gears ride choppy wheelies thinking its easy. but watch them eat crap because there not ready. Always respect your bike . Just think if its that much easier to get up its that much faster you will land on your back if your not ready.Just letting off the gas and hitting the brake could send you over the handle bars on a geared bike .

I definately agree with that.

On my 06 gsxr 600, I put -1 +4 and it made a HUGE DIFFERENCE compared to stock.

-1 +5 is right around 20% error on the speedo on top of whatever error it comes with from the factory... u do the math.
