I will probably take the tail off soon to see how far past the sub it will actually be. I have a pic of scraping it as-is and it's already a hair past 12, so if I put the bar where the tail ends now I will be perfect.
On a related note, are there any threads on how to shorten a 636 can without gaining noise?

not sure but my boy cut his from the front(exhaust exit) and it sounds like bbs in a can....
id recommend cutting the back hollow space and re riviting together....also u will problably break the stock exhaust hangar.... everybody seems to break taht ****....

So should I remove the rivets in the end cap, cut, and rivet it farther up the can, or should I go from the other end?

cut it from the downpipe side, drill rivets and take a peek see how far u can go until your into the baffles. dont cut baffles if u can help it, thats what makes it sound shitty.....
