ok so i basically rebuilt my whole bike an when i get it back together the battery is dead... no worries, toss on the trickle charger... and when i go to start it later it starts but makes a knarly whine when your pushing the button to start and when you release the button once the engine has fired you hear the wind down of the whine....

to me it sounds like somethings going bad with the starter but i dont understand why that would happen all the sudden.......


anyone have any words of wisdom or know whats goin on?

And I'd attempt to pull the starter off, and the case cover that the starter gears are in, and see if anything is binding, or if any bearings are bad

Try hooking the started up to power with it off the bike and see if you still have issues


When you say rebuilt the whole bike, did you pop covers off the engine and/or remove the starter or any starter gears? Maybe install them incorrectly or put a washer in a place it shouldn't be or forget to add a washer where it should be?

its on a 03/04 636 an ya i did get the case covers powdercoated gloss black...
i guess ill take the case cover off?!?!

i might, i thought it was for the honda (like the honda would ever break ). i will have to look, im going through all the **** in my garage as i move out, i know i definately have one for a 06 636.
