weak subframe, weak motormounts, otherwise pretty solid bike. dont run a FI cage.

Re: 2006 R6 good bad and ugly

you talkin the YFZ r6 model or the stright up r6 race style. No matter what the plastics on a yamaha are down right paper thin so if you plan on stuntin it go nekid or get a damn good cage for it. As soon as you lay it down the plastics explode.

I know the 08 model the plastics basic-ly flap in the wind cause they are so thin

theyre the same plastics as every manufacturer uses....and when u have a cage u shouldnt have to worry much about ur plastics unless ur a squid and gonna let ur bike go flying at 25mph...

Hm I noticed the side plastics on the Raven Edition of the R6 in 08 are pretty much different and very thin. I guess implying Im a squid? Guess so. Wouldnt know dont own a R6 and dont let my bikes ride by their selves at 25 mph

Re: 2006 R6 good bad and ugly

I have a 05 r6 and love it. If you buy one try to find the 05' cause it is the only year they put inverted forks and a dual radiator fan on it. Never had a problem with motor mounts or my plastic. I run a powers cage on it and a FI 12 bar.
All my friends that ride f4i or 636 love the fact that it will run a low idel and not die. And the subframes are weak but i just welded diamond plate on the inside of it and it stronger than my frame now!!!!

Re: 2006 R6 good bad and ugly

I just bought one and will form an opinion very soon.

So far I have:
F4i throttle tube
Fullthrottle kit (new cable style)
MSR lever
13tooth front sprocket (stock out back)
M4 short GP pipe
Stock clipons flipped.

Not sure if I'm gettin a cage or just goin with race rails. I don't wreck much and had rails on my f4i with no problems.

Deff gettin a round bar and bracing the subframe.
