05 1000rr speedo is WAY off

Got a salvaged 05 1000rr to rock the streets. Noticed that the speedo is WAY off. Ex.: At 75mph my gauge reads 57mph. But yet the rpms compared to my friends 07 1000rr is about the same. (off by like 300rpm cuz the 07 redlines higher).

Anyone got any idea to what it is?

And still trying to figure out why the hell when I'm in a wheelie and BARELY let off the gas it wants to bring me right down.

Also, I know most of you guys who rocked 929's and 954's liked being 5 up. Any of you guys rock a 1000rr? and what gearing did you like? same as the 929 and 954?

How do you know it's going 75mph for sure? Are you going by your friends speedo? Maybe his gearing is different from yours. Possible that you have a speedo healer on that isn't set correctly???

What do you do about the fork seals?

Just let them leak? Or replace them 3 times a week?

did you check the sprockets... maybe they went up teeth in the front to keep it from lifting so easy, or down in the rear.... other than that...no clue?

shut your mouth homo!

I havent gotten a chance to ride one but everyone I've talked to says the bike rides like no other. Heard nothing but good things about its performance. I just can't get past the ugliness of it!

And that still doesnt tell me whats wrong with my ****** bike!

Aye

I've just heard bad things about them, personally I don't own one

I just know two local people that got them.. One has been riding 15+ years, and hasn't blown a seal on his 929's in years.. Blew his 1000rr forks seals the first week, and he dosn't even stunt!

Another guy blew his in less then 1000, but I don't know his riding style, he might have abused them..

if i remember right the 04-05 RR were bad for having speedo error. my buddy had one. you could be doing 55 and it would say 25. had a cop clock me one day. sucked cause was never right had to get new guages. try that.

Yes its on MPH. That was the first thing I checked. The KPH reads higher than MPH not lower.
