i had to learn coaster w/o a hb. tokk me a little over a week. i found as soon as u feel it go over the bp, pull the cultch and throw ur weight slightlyy forward to keep from looping (if ur a hb guy, use it!) and u should hold the bp just fine.

damn dude i think u went backwards in the process hahaha i started rockin coasters long before circles.... im still not rockin circles but i can do a few.... youll pick it up quick if u got circles, brake control is mainly the basics of a coaster. goodluck:YEAH

the main thing w/ coasters is, is with timing. in addition to a bp, u have a bp range, sort of a grace area. the thing is, ur bike wants to b n the bp, since ur coaster bp is higher than ur acceleratory bp, u have to pull the clutch once ur over ur bp, but while still in ur bp range, and the bike will believe it or not, fall n2 the coaster bp all by itself.

your thinkin too much on it, just gonna wind up confusing the guy.

Kip, you'll get it easily. I just decided one day that I was gonna get em and went out and tried without any info. I learned in first, popped it up, chased bp a little then gave it a little more gas to get behind bp, pull the clutch in real quick and you should feel it start to float back, then lightly start tapping the brake every few seconds to keep you from scraping.

after the first day practicing them, all I could say is why didnt I learn that sooner, its that easy :YEAH

this was my second day doin em http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_XMySb_O-s

Maybe you haven't gotten the clue from the last few threads you chimed in with your useless advice .... stop trying to give advice - first you don't ride a streetbike so you have no basis for comparison, second your barely readable gibberish is beyond annoying, third your attempted explanations make no sense whatsoever. Until you are rolling 500+ feet on a streetbike stop posting in this thread.

BE CARFUL!

As soon as you pull in the clutch, if you are far enough back, the bike just FALLS back FAST!

my first few times I was rolling pretty slow just to get the feel of when I should pull in the clutch and use the brake

Um, if you are saying you are doing coasters, without using the brake, then you either A: aren't doing a coaster or B: aren't coasting for more then 5 feet..

Thats what kept hapning to me . so I decided I had to go back past with the clutch in so it was all smoth instead of fighting with gas bp clutch and brake all at the same time. I just get going a bit under bp gas it clutch it as im still going up then rub at it with the brake once it floats back past BP. after I figured that out it was all the way down the lot.

Re: coasters........time to try em, tips?

I do coasters with 50cc, I push the 2nd or 3rd gear, then I get past bp, pull in clutch, and do the rest with my right foot on the brake

You'll see it's pretty easy, takes like 10/15 mins of training before doing nice distances

Re: coasters........time to try em, tips?

since everyone else posted vids of their coasters ...

here's one of me from about 4 years ago ... but the sound gives you an idea of what the motor/ bp need to do.... sound also shows that (at the time) i couldnt commit to the rev limiter, and it inevitably lead to needing a new motor. hahaha. besides, now i think its more fun to rip it up and shut off the motor, much more gangsta.

that was a long time ago ... but if i remember correctly those stairwells were about 100 feet apart ... so that one was in the neighborhood of 400 feet. the last few times i rode i could rock it a few hundred feet longer than that.

one of the few tricks in my bag that 's somewhat impressive compared to much of the competition these days. the things i would do to be a little spider monkey on a bike
