Re: Powers Stunt Worx - Giving Credit Where Credit Is Due ...
ALL cage companys have issues with some random cages that dont mount up to the bike due to the fact that metal bends, twists, warps, expands and contracts when welded and theres no way of predicting what it going to do and sometimes they slip in the jigs when being welded, again nothing that can be done about this

I had a powers cage on my 03 ZX-6. I never dropped the bike hard, and I had to weld the cage back together three times. I sent Matt an email. He said he would send me a new one. It has been well over a month now, so now my bike has a nice new SI cage!! I am not impressed with their products or customer service.

other than being billed for hardware, not getting it, calling and having to remind the chick working the phones not once but TWICE to send my **** out.. 2.5 weeks later i finally got the hardware kit for my cage.
i got it.. and it works.. but i agree, i shouldn't have to call 4-5 times to get ahold of someone to fix their mistake.

THIS IS A GREAT THRED....
POWERS AND CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.....
Lets take this back to a bike night at DUKES in orlando Matt Powers shows up to check out a show myself, Drew Rawlins and Tneck were doing. At the time I rode for Powers Stuntworx and considered myself a friend not just a rider. I show powers this bar that connects my rear pegs that myself and larry the welder (LTW on here) made in his shop to save my subframe and and rear peg on my 636. we talked for a few and word for word mat said well "Its like a cage for your subframe" 2 months later the first "SUB CAGE" came out. From then on i could never Get in contact with Matt what so ever... and he's cashed in on the "sub cage" with not even a mention of any help from any riders. you think a guy who doesn't ride came up with that? not so much....
so much for credit where credit is due....... really disappointed in the lack of loyalty there matt especially after you name a round bar off of tneck that i helped you develop as well.....
but the past is the past....

no one ever complained about the subcage or race railz that im aware of so congradulations on that. however the cage design is no good. SI has never broken anyones frame that ive heard of on any bike. its not only the 600rr that it brakes the frames on its also gsxrs(although theyre prone for it anyway). i had a SI on my 600rr and it did exactly what it should do. SI dont "bend" or "break" that ive ever seen. with hard drops they can tweak slightly but so does powers. that bottom line is that mounting it flat to the frame is a bad idea cuz that is a weak spot theres mothing behind it. so thats the trade off for ppl who ride a 600rr or other bikes that have a super low engine mount. id much rather have my bike roll over than have my frame get destroyed. my SI cage didnt even roll my rr when i dumped it at about 30mph, not that im saying its not possible but its not such a huge issue for me that id sacrifice the integrity of my frame to avoid it. the problem with his customer service that i always hear about is them never answering the phone or emails. i dont know from personal experience cuz ive never tried to call. just telling you what the word is.
ps. i am not sponsored by anyone so my opinions are totally unbiased. im just an average rider who spends alot of money on parts.

Cages only do so much. Just because you have a cage, doesn't mean you can let your bike fly across the parking lot and not break.

i don't really have a problem with their design. i had one on my stuntbike when i bought it and it took a killer beating. i'd say it's tough. as far as people's frames breaking, i don't think there's much u can do about that. the cage is designed to spread the impact over two points on the frame and along the bottom rail. sick inno's design does the exact same.
my problem is hearing about how so many people have not gotten their products for MONTHS and MONTHS. why are there so many people who haven't gotten their stuff? and why isn't the owner here addressing those issues personally like some other cage builders do? at least show us ur side of the story if the guy hasn't gotten his cage so we'll know if he brought it on himself. as far as it taking a month to receive a product, i'd say thats acceptable cuz other manufacturers take 3-4 weeks also, unless they have one in stock.

the only thing i ever bought from powers is those swingarms spools things that stick out where the rear wheel mounts. seemed simple enough but the damn all thread that came with it was way too thick to make the fit. i accepted it as typical of the stunt industry and had to go out and get thinner all thread. I've moved on to sick innov for sure.

have to throw this out there but the powers cage i bought new fit to my 954 but not easy(took a good 30 mintues of ******* with it), and i never dropped it from straight up and my cage is tweaked/bent a bit and its touching my frame at the rear mounting point... i have pictures if you dont know what im talkin about. all in all im looking for a better cage, i think SI or MXD have gotten good reveiws, oh and FI.

spoken like a true SPONSORED rider!!!
The quality is rarely an issue they bash them because it takes MONTHS not a couple of weeks to get a cage. And you get the run around during this time. its not 1 or 2 or 3 people either, its everyone thats not on a lockheart phillips ordering invoice! you cant tell me any different because i was one of the people that waited 3 months for my cage to come in only to have to beat it with a hammer to make it fit. you can give them credit all you want, fact is your a sponsored rider which puts you in with lockheart, in front of everyone else. They make a great product (except for the race rails which are garbage for stunting ihmo) but they only care about there corporate accounts and that is fact not opinion! I could fill this thread with the bullshit they fed me while waiting for my cage. but why bother its like beating a dead horse, pointless! I personally will never give them another penny! sick innovations "cares" about the riders in this industry and it shows in there customer service and the timely manner in which products are shipped.
