soo are they.....
i have a f4i and my rear rotor is cooked...and im looking to get a new one or used.....(and deff since i just got the sf duel caliper setup) .and i see some people using star rotors but they aint cheap (unless some one has a hook up) hint hint....

sooo what are yer thoughts.....

 

my star rotor didn't work, i put the stock one back on.

 

I think you should turn your idle down and stop riding the brake all the time

i has a cheap on off of ebay but stock always seemed to work fine. you do not need a star rotor with the dual caliper. just get another stock one

 

I noticed an immediate difference with star rotors. it will take a session or 2 to get used to the added braking power (or it did for me at least).
I will not run anything but wave rotors now. hoheys street fighter bracket but with star rotor is overkill but if your doing high speed seat stander coasters and have ever had it come back to the bar (stock rotor original hohey bracket) when it wasnt supposed to you would want that extra braking power

if you rape the brake alot you will eventually overheat and warp any rotor, but the wave rotors cool off quick and dont retain as much heat imho so its less likely to happen. heat is bad for any braking system. these are my opinions though others may vary.

get fresh pads with a new rotor no matter how long they have been on your bike. the pads need to break in with the rotor you are running. also my opinion

i just put on a new set of stock pads(with crappy rotor) and only ridding twice since....
but now i got that new setup(still witing on my line to get here..) and the pads on the other caliper are old,but its all i have left....

 

they will break in eventually it will just take longer and your braking power wont feel "right" until they have time to seat on the new rotor. what kind of pads are they?

 

I've heard from several people that have star rotors on there bike that they didn't like 'em. Even after a few months and letting them break in properly. They all went back to stock

 

brand new stock f4i rear pads...i had hh on there before but they were worn out..

....from what i gather, galfer waves are the good ones....but there just as expensive as stock.

i would go with whatever wears longest, which is probly oem

 

I bought the cheap wave rotor from hong kong off ebay and I love it. Granted my stock rotor was paper thin and my pads were shot but once I put on the new rotor and pads the baking was excellent. Seems like more stopping power out of the wave rotor, but like I said the stock stuff was shot.

 

I put a wave rotor on the rear of my gixxer. It is awsome! haha. it looks good, and it stops good. It does Not have the total braking force of a stock rotor, but it keeps the rear from locking/chattering so much when tail braking into a corner. You've gotta Lay on that **** to make it lock. I love it. Don't know about stunt application, but it is just for looks

 

I just put on a Galfer rear wave rotor with new Pads and so far it seems to be grabbing hard enough and has been consistent.

Don't have much experience with the Star Rotor stuff.

 

hmmm soo after reading the posted thread.provid,by lee maj....ive got some mixed reviews.....

the rear pads right now have 2 days on them....with the crappy rotor...so if i picked up a new rotor i should put new pads on again????

 

You can use those pads again as long as they're not too badly grooved from the old rotor.

 

EDIT: f' it. i'm gonna try the galfer wave rear with ebc HH.

same price as oem, but it says they're "the ferrari of rotors". so basically i'm gettin a ferrari for the same price as a lincoln

yeah, your probly right. i like the stopping power of the hh, but they keep tearing my rotors up

 

wave rotors are designed to keep cool and under heavy breaking used when stunt riding the caliper disipates the heat off the rotor, then to the pads n caliper then your break fluid gets all that heat and you boil your break fluid

i believe star rotors are only semi-wave rotors





a stock rotor will last the longest and is the best bang for your buck or look for a rotor on ebay off a newer bike with little use


if you ran new pads on a clapped out grooved rotor they are junk throw em away


+1000 stock honda pads are the best and last the longest
