Re: Bent forks on 636? or is something loose?

1st thing u need to do is figure out if it's just the wheel thats bent or if it's the fork's and the wheel

ya man, check the triples, loosen everything and see if you can straighten the wheel/forks out and then tighten it all back up

Re: Bent forks on 636? or is something loose?

I had the same prob on my 929 front end. I got a new lower tripple and problem solved. I am willing to bet this is your problem also.

Re: Bent forks on 636? or is something loose?

I would think you would be able to clearly see a bend in your forks. If not loosen your upper and lower triple clamps...and your steering stem nut. Re tighten and torque them according to your manual...if still not straight its gotta be your fork tubes...most likely the inner tube if anything... Take Care and good luck

Re: Bent forks on 636? or is something loose?

every one already mentioned loosening both tripples but no one said any thing about twisting every thing back straight before you tighten it back up , grab your clipons while every thing is loose and hold the tire with your knees and twist it back straight ...

this may have been obvious and you may have done it this way but i figured i would mention it just incase

Re: Bent forks on 636? or is something loose?

the steering stem is pressed into the lower triple. the upper triple and lower can get twisted off from one another.. Like OMR is saying. loosen everything....upper, lower, and steering nut. Try to straighten out the steering....then when you tighten everything back up follow the intructions on your manual. This is important as every one is a little different. Some have different ways of doing it ...whether they want you to temporaily tighten the pinch bolts, then your steering nut, then torque down the pinch....Or I have seen where they want to torque down the lower pinch. Snug up the upper, torque down the steering nut, then torque the upper.. Whatever it may be but the point is to do it the way they say and it will insure the the upper clamp and lower are straight after everything is torqued properly.. Anyway if this doesnt work....something is seriously.....fubared

don't listen to these people... the wheel points right while steering strait? put the bars to the left stop and back-kick (using the bottom of you're foot) the front of the tire... thats if you dint wanna try the loosen/retighten thing, ha

pull up to a wall and slam the steering to the side
