The cops showed up..
Practicing in the lot at Vidina stadium which is almost always empty, the cop shop is just down the road. Been going there for a couple months and the 50 drive by plenty and have never stopped. Well today hear blurp and it's an unmarked, then 3 more swarm. Lic reg ins please, went and got them from my truck and the cop can't find VIN stamp on frame and tells me to find to prove it's not stolen, there is none. How do I get a replacement?? If I can. Then explains to me that doing wheelies here next to the station is the same as him shitting in my back yard. Then procedes to point out all the **** wrong broken directional, no windscreen, no vin on frame etc. Lets me go and says get a vin or the bike will be impounded next time he sees me and I get the whole list of tickets. any way maybe it's time to bring the county a petition for a sactioned practice area, there' not many places left, or search for the private lot, which there are very few of also. Anyone ever succed in getting an approved area, skaters got a skate park, all I(we) need is space?

I think it was more or less the fact that you were riding a bike with no VIN. That's some serious **** man. If that happened here the bike would get confiscated and you'd never see it again. Consider yourself lucky. Best bet is to keep ALL your paperwork legit and be friendly and co-operative. Works for us!

welcome to the sport. If you were on private property than the whole host of tickets should be droped. If you were not on the road and you trucked the bike you don't need a plate on the bike. As well the bike does not need to be street legal. As far as a vin you will have to get ahold of the manufacturer and see what they have to say. Getting a spot to practice is very hard here. A dead end street is the best I can find and here lately the cops are showing up with in 10 minutes of starting practice.

Bike is legit I guess, got title and all the paper work current just there is no vin on the frame. The haynes manuel says not avaliable for the 99 ??? for the frame #. All in all dam lucky to be let go next Tues is court for reckless driving for slow wheelies on a private rd. The lot is county property, 1 less place to play.

when you buy these frames new from the manufacturer they do not come with a vin. I bought a brand new frame for my 02 gix and it too was not stamped. After completing the frame swap I schedualed an appointment wih the CHP where they had to re-assign my old frame number to the new on e. This process is also done with custom chopper build and vehicle needing to have vin numbers assigned. The other term I heard was "blue tagging" the frame. ANyway they are very particular about this. I would just say that you bought the bike like this and the frame must have been replaced at some point and that a bare frame does not mean the bike is stolen. However you should not have been riding it without vin numbers. I suggest either call you dmv and ask about having a vin assigned to your frame or go buy some frame that is cheap...salvage or clean and have them reassign th vin numbers....chp can do this!

I just got a spot a mile and a half from my house (out in the country) the guy had a can-am dealership and moved it to a better location. Lets me ride there whenever I want and today just offered me a job as a sales man at his dealership.
