Flat bar vs Round bar

Flat bar vs Round bar
I just got a new stunter (99 cbr f4) and sowly working on its setup... I went flat mainly for the step but I have noticed most f4/f4i riders go flat.
Any reason for this?

Re: Flat bar vs Round bar
i am not sure and i will probably get bitched at for this but i believe it is due to the tail section on the new bikes and the way that the manufacture makes the rear section of the bike but. i am not sure

Re: Flat bar vs Round bar
Well its not just new bikes.... it seems like all CBRs have flat bars
No need for a bunch of pics of CRBs with round bars lol I know ppl have then but it 9 out of 10 flat
Im just wondering if its something more then preference

Re: Flat bar vs Round bar
if you just want to touch and go, round bar..
if you want to drag, 12 bar
I run a 12 bar just because it was ez to build, and cost $4 in steel
Once I get a new tail though, im going round bar for a clean look

Re: Flat bar vs Round bar
First off, I have a 60t sprocket and lots of chain if you are looking into gearing for the 99 F4. Second, being a beginner myself, without thinking much about it I put a flat bar on. My 12s were really wobbley and hitting the flat bar was scary. It would catch funny if you didn't drag it flat on the ground. For beginners I would rather have a round bar that when I hear it scrape even if I'm crooked I can get on the rear brake and still save it.

Re: Flat bar vs Round bar
I've never had ANY issues with a flat bar digging in, or anything like that
Scrapes easy as can be.. I think people hype 12 bars up too much about how hard they are

Re: Flat bar vs Round bar
better find some wood to knock on or something
and if you are on a newer bike and the edge digs it will usually break your subframe. all of this i have seen with my own 2 eyes or have had it happen to me so im not hyping anything. I started with a flat bar and switched to round, imo round bars are best all around. unless you want to do bar tricks
and if your like most of the people that have just started stunting scraping 12 is what you want to do most. you dont think about needing to be able to control the wheelie before scraping.
not saying what your saying is a lie, you may be one hell of a rider and **** just comes naturally to you. but your average beginner will not have the same luck.

Ya I wouldn't suggest it for a newbie
but someone that can scrape, **** it, I don't think its that big of a deal
If my subframe does snap, i'l just rebuild it bigger and stronger! lol
My 12 bar only mounts up the end of the sub frame, about 5 inches lol (same as a SI bar)
and I've slamed that fucked SO hard and its never broke :YEAH
Friend actually looped my bike about 4 days ago.. clutch, to wheelie, to falling off, to full throtlte onto the bar, to bike going flipping down road
Tweaked my subframe slightly, gonna bend it back and brace it
edit: dont get me wrong, I want a round bar eventually. I just need to A: find someone to bend a piece of steel bar for me, and B: make it short as **** because I hate how SI round bars hang a mile off the bike.
Also I've rode a round bar a few dozen times, so I know what they are all about
One thing too, **** 12 bars that have edges that stick out.. I've noticed most people have guillotines on the back of there bike lol
