how far is to far?

I have an 08 gixxer 1000 that I've recently learned staggerd standups that are close to bp. I don't really have a stunt bike and I'm not planing on getting one for a year or so. I'd like to just concentrate on my slowing my standups down and perfecting them. But my question Is the first day I really got em down I started cranking some out for close to a mile and I know the older gixxers had oil pick up issues what should I watch out for on this one till I pay it off in a year and get a stunt bike?

http://www.stuntex.com/products.htm

keep checking them to see if they get a pickup for your 08. Or email them and they will know if it is an issue on that bike. I overfill by half liter and have no problems with starvation.

Too far is when u get mouse trapped and are on your back looking at the sky. For god sakes get a cage for that bike. Especially an '08.

BTW if you starve you're bike of oil Suzuki is gonna laugh at you and tear up you're warranty.

Re: how far is to far?

so is ther a distance or a time period or a sign I should watch out for? If I'm not quite at bp I should be able to ride them for quite a while right?

Re: how far is to far?

nah it's not to high. It was a first but I've learned to slow it down so far. I usualy clutch up at 20 and hit as close as I get to bp at about 50 and hold there. About half way up in the rpm range. I'm getting a tad slower every day. I'll probably pick up a stunt bike in a year or so when I pay off the 1000. I guess I could use my 03 600 but I have enough twisties stuff on it I don't wana convert it plus It's absoulutley flawless. I'm to big into the whole stunt thing yet I just really dig stand ups and I'd like to mess with those get em down a little better and in a year or so buy a clapped out 636

Re: how far is to far?

make shure that you are heavy in oil by at least 3/4 of a quart.
I did not get a light but I still spun a rod bearing.

Re: how far is to far?

I will do that thank you. So about 3/4 of a quart extra oil and do not keep it tached high for extened periods right? I'm trying to slow them down as much as possible it's just hard because I can tell my bike is not the best for slow standups of course and because no body i ride with does wheelies at all so I've learned all this on my own.

Re: how far is to far?

are you covering the rear brake ? once you slow down enough just getting off the throttle will not bring the bike back down , you will need to hit the rear brake

Re: how far is to far?

I use the rear brake for every wheelie I've ever done. I can do bp wheelies for days and days on my klx 110 and my wifes quad and **** I just recently started rocking wheelies on my street bikes. I started about two months ago barely being able to do tiny sit downs to rocking stand ups for over half a mile. I know where I'm at now, as far as being on a 1k and doing 50 mph standups aren't popular with you guys but i'm really safe, allway's ride within my limits and use common sense so i think I'll be ok. Plus I've owned like 4 sportbikes and have been riding for like close to five years so i'm not super squidly.I'll slow em down as soon as I can. Maybe it's squidish but the pimp stretched out standups have alway's been an absolute favorite of mine and once I safely get em down I'll be ok till I can afford a stunt bike. Thanks for the advice guys. P.s Also I do wheelies on my 6 but I don't have the same sucess or comfort. For one thing the rear peg is really flexy and feels like it will snap at any second and it makes me wobble and I just wheelie better on the 1k. I'm sure there's a fix for the old 03 6's. Hope this makes sense

Re: how far is to far?

sounds good just try not to ride the brake the whole time when your going 50 mph because you will boil your brake fluid and if you are counting on your rear brake it will not be there ...
