08 zx6r to stunt?

all i have heard about is that the motor mounts suck... any other problems i should know about? i might have a killer deal on one and i dunno if im gonna part it out or set it up for a new stuntride...

and what parts are interchangeable with a 636? sorry for the stupid questions but i only really know honda.

Re: 08 zx6r to stunt?

dont really know how true the motor mounts thing is cause i stunted a salvaged 07 and there are no major differences between them. i swapped parts with both 05 and 06 636's. hope this helps.

Re: 08 zx6r to stunt?

The motor mounts have to be weak, one look at them and you'll see.
I don't think too many parts are interchangeable, I haven't noticed any between the 04 and 07.
They lack low end power, which I've heard can be fixed my removing the cats from the exhaust undernieth the bike. I'm gunna see how mine feels once its geared before I cut it. I just geared mine +7. I'm also gunna go -1 on the front as soon as I get my sprocket off (I stripped the nut). As soon as my master link gets here I'm gunna hit the lots, then I'll post pics and my own little review about the bike.

Re: 08 zx6r to stunt?

yea that was one of the first things i noticed about it was how cheesy those mounts look...

anything else i should be worried about with this bike if i decide to stunt it?

Re: 08 zx6r to stunt?

Sub frame looks weak like on all the new bikes too.

As for the motor mounts.........I'm gunna have someone reinforce them when I get a chance, like king tony did. Hopfully that'll solve that potential problem.

Re: 08 zx6r to stunt?

My new zx6 is great. Motor mounts are a little weak and took a big spill a while ago but checked out the frame and have no cracks. So far so good. Plus its a wicked stoppie bike.

07/08 subframe is about 10X stronger then the 05/06....It has 1/4" plate gussets strengthing it, and only the last 10" or so is weak because its made of that shitty cast aluminum.....If you made your bar mount to the actual tube and plate subframe parts it would be very strong, even stronger then the 03/04 subs...

Re: 08 zx6r to stunt?

only thing thats interchangeable between the 05/06 and the 07/08 is calipers, rotors, sprocket, clip ons, rearsets, front wheel, hohey dual caliper bracket, and maybe the front fender but im not sure on that one.

Good to know.

I wasn't planning on a 12 bar. Just figured using the exhaust would work. You know if that holds up??

Not sure, I0 havent stunted one but I just built one from the ground up for a buddy...And just handling the sub you can tell is heavy duty %75 of the way back, and only the last %25 is weak *** cast aluminum....

Re: 08 zx6r to stunt?

i love my 07-08 zx6rs...

my favorite bike to ride that i own, it just fits like a glove.
best stoppie bike, nice gas tank dents, easy burnouts, lots of powerl, durable subframe.. no wheelie bar still.. but oh well. thats what the akrapovic is for.
tige shark cage works great on it too..

i did break one frame in half, but that was after a pretty wicked 2-3 week long 5x a weak learnin new shiyat 5 hour a day wreck session... the motor mounts finally did snap.
never had a problem since i reinfornced that one.
and never did reinforce the other 3 bikes and they are doing fine...

get what ya want... but i likey this bike...

Re: 08 zx6r to stunt?

What are people useing as tank dampers, (the two rubber pieces on the sides of the gas tank)?
I don't know if mine fell off or if it didn't have them, but my tank rocks back and forth a lot. So I was wondering if anyone else had the problem.
