Honda Toughness: Your experiences...
OK, long story short, so I will pick up this 07 CBR 1000RR Thurs or the latest Fri.
Anyhow, I haven't had a Honda in about 10yrs. I have had a few Kawis and Zuks for yrs.
Anyhow, what do you think the overall abuse limit? I rode the hell out of my Gix 1000 and did me fine. Never had a problem.
Have you heard of any probs with the cbr 1000s?

i have the 06. i love mine. i havent stunted it really but i commute on it and love it. i ride it every chance i get.
1000RR.net is a good forum for it. lots of used parts on there. look me up if u join. u just have to be really nice on there. no SL assholiness allowed and u gotta read and abide by their shitty rules or they'll ban u. great site otherwise.

Re: Honda Toughness: Your experiences...
my buddy HAD an 07 1000rr and was doing a highchair when the rod shot out the block. and this kid works at a honda shop and does his work on his bike himself, so it was def done right. he hasnt got a chance to tear down his motor yet so he doesnt know what caused it, but ill post up what it was when he tells me. and my 954 has been giving me issues the last month or so but other than those 2 issues i can pretty much say that hondas are bulletproof and i think alot of people agree with me. like a 636 cant handle the abuse of bein dropped over and over and over like the f4is can. but since ive never owned a 636 thats just from what ive seen and heard. let us know how you like the 1000rr when you get it.

Re: Honda Toughness: Your experiences...
all ive ever had is hondas. an f4i, and rc51, and now a 954, also a few cr 250's and the only problem ive ever had is the fork seals on the rc51, i know that im probably just lucky but the hondas really are bulletproof. oh i do have some valve chatter on the 954, but thats from hours of rev limiter abuse.

my buddy just bought an 08 cbr 1000 (yellow n black) it has 600 miles on it...
its going into the shop today cause its motor is making more noise than the one i blew on my zx6r last week.. i think it already spun a bearing..

wow. It seems like everyones stories are fairly similar. The older bikes are just tougher.
So if I were to wheelie it for a while from time to time it'd throw a rod or crap out?
My 04 gix 1000 was tough as nails I guess.
I was thinking about modding it but after looking at how much its going to cost, screw that. If I get the exhaust, I ned the full, then a power comander III, then clutch and bake levers, etc. Man, this will run $1000's.....
I'll ride this bitch stock.... Anybody know the difference between a full exhaust w/ power comm. plus K&N filter and a stock? Prob not a whole hell of a lot I am guesing as they already have fairly free flow....

Haven't handed him the money yet..... haha...
I just ddidn't think they were that weak. Actually, they didnt change it much from 04 in terms of motor I don't think.... I know from o6-07 they gave the 07 a new swingarm, and dropped it 15lbs.

Re: Honda Toughness: Your experiences...
If the motors gonna spring a leak it'll be in the first stages of getting run in. I had a mate with the bulletproof 06 R1 actually had a valve fracture. I still wouldn't buy a kwakka over a honda or yammy. No disrespect!

Re: Honda Toughness: Your experiences...
they aren't that weak. the guy prolly got a lemon. u really think the majority of 08 cbr's are gonna blow a motor in less than 1000 miles? it wheelies fine, man. just buy the ****. u'll love it. i wheelie mine from time to time and ride the **** out of it. any day it doesn't rain, i'm on it. the 07 is different than the 08 anyway.

Re: Honda Toughness: Your experiences...
along this topic line, The 04 cbr600rr, how do you guys feel about its durability. Its strength and weaknesses? oh and a bike with 26xxx miles on it, how many miles can a bike go before i need to worry about the milage.
