Re: 1000RR Frontend on F4i

what is the distance between the forks on the f4i? I have an extra zx-10 set if that could be used by anyone doing this. there off an 04 and gold. thats what is on my 636 and the rims seems strong so that wouldn't be a problem...

Some people say the 1000rr fork seals blow easier then the 929/954s. I blew my 1000rr fork seals about 3 months after putting the front end on and re-did them with 15 weight oil instead of the stock 10 and havent had a problem sence.

+1 thats what I've heard about the newer 1000rr's..

a older friend that has been riding for YEARs (10+ years), he owns 4 929 erions in PEFFECT condition, doesn't stunt, just rides BP highway wheelies, rips a FEW stoppies, and rides normal other then that, blew his 2008 1000rr forks out in LESS then 1000 miles.. (I think he said it was around 600)

And I have heard COUNTLESS other reports of regular riders blowing their brand new 1000rr seals within 3k miles...

Re: 1000RR Frontend on F4i

i have an almost complete 929/54 front end in my garage i been meanin to put back together all im missing is the right front caliper haha

i like the 1000rr front on the f4i tho, just wish it wasnt so damn short...i dont see how fools can get used to runnnin them on top and still get good clearance and effectiveness from the front end.

as for fork seals...i blew the stock for seals in my street 1000rr just mobbin the streets barely any wheelies...the ones i got on my f4i have been on since last may and have been cool all season wit out blowing..

i went thru 3 seal changes in a year n a half on the 929/54 forks....bad luck i guess

Re: 1000RR Frontend on F4i

can someone explain to me why i have better control over my bike(in wheelies) with the stock front end compared to the 954 front end? both have clip-ons on top with stock tripples, but with the stock forks the bike feels easier to throw in and move around on.i like the looks of my 954 forks but if i can ride better with my stock front end im switching back.

cuz the 945 front is 1 1/2" shorter than the stock f4i front end.... and the 1krr is even shorter, therefor affecting the geometry of the front end

MikeM talked about using a spacer in the rear shock bolt to help out with this...
