I don't make it wanna sound depressing, but i think you will be out for a bit more then 6-8 weeks. After your surgery the bone will heal together pretty quickly, but I wouldn't really ride until they take out all the metal, etc... from your ankle. You wouldn't want that stuff to do more damage in case you crash with it (God forbid not) inside your ankle. You will need a bit of rehab as well, as you leg will be atrophied.

Most importantly is that you are alright though and will get back on the bike soon!!! Eat up those veggies & it will all be good :YEAH

im really sorry to hear this as i was loving what was coming out of the east lately from you guys
i hate to say the next couple months are gonna **** you off more than ever...i remember crashing at the end of april with a broken collarbone and sitting on the couch for 5 weeks and i wanted to lose it...
just make sure you take care of it like everyone said, dont rush the healing time and take LOTS of vitamins...i take joint medication but as you only broke your leg stick with the calcium and vitamins

 

Hope you have a speedy recovery! Totally sounds like a freak accident. Chances are you'll be better on the bike than when you got off anyways man.. breaks tend to do that to people! (no pun intended!)

 

6 to 8 weeks!!!!well i dont know how badly broken is, but you are suppose not to move it for 6-8 weeks! and after that you need another month(at least)to strech the muscles and start walking! but if you were able to drive you might be OK sooner tho!...a broke mine september last year and still limp a bit!

Yes u think just like me, that the only positive I can take from this. Reminds me when I crashed a highchair on my R1, then got an F4i and started killing No HB combos. Not that I wanted to I just couldn't wait for parts to get in cause winter was coming up.

I drove home but in my van with me left foot hehe, it was hurting all the way home. hehe, my buddies strapped the bike in the trailer and it was almost falling down and I didnt want to go tight it up so I just drove right now and just made it, my buddy came home to unload the bike and couldnt believe it was still on the trailer. haha. I woulda called him but my phone was in the back seat and didnt want to get out of the van to go get it so yeah I was hurt but the good thing is my Shin didnt break. It holds 90% of your weight, I broke like 1 inch off the outside bone so it may heal good, they need to but my left ligement back together too or else it wont heal the doctor said.

 

Well thanks for all the encouragement guys makes me feel better. I'm leaving pretty much all day for surgery but will keep you posted.

 

Well the orthopedic surgeon told me to come back on Monday for a surgery as I would get bumped out all weekend for more important surgeries.

sucks man. make sure and follow thru with the rehab, dont go without it. i broke my femur in 3 places aug 06 and quit with the rehab bc it was 850 a month. i still cant bend my leg much past 90 degrees and when im laying down i cant pick my leg up. rehab rehab rehab is the only way to fully recover. on the + side of things you will know when a storm is coming.

 

that sucks brother,hope you recover well,,i got hit head-on,on 9/30/06 by a truck when i was on my bike,broke both arms ,slip some disk in my back, and whip lash/concussion,and nerve damage in my left arm,,which i still cant feel my left arm

 

bummer mate, give it the time it needs to heal, last thing you need is a permant limp, 8 10 12 weeks now is better than a life time of dramas with it.
wish id taken my own advise with my flogged out wrist & shoulder.

It's not 2 weeks after surgery and they removed my cast and to my surprise I had staples on my leg

The doc said I need 4 more weeks in a cast and no walking on it for another month. Then it's physio and back to walking again. The good thing is I paid the extra $300 to get a walking cast and I can take it off once in awhile to get some ankle movement. It might speed up the recovery and walking a bit.
