Re: wheel balance on a lot bike???
there are also little dots or arrows on the tire edge... normally quite a few of them, line one of the dots up with the valve stem and you will be damn close to correctly balanced.

Re: wheel balance on a lot bike???
tire balancing dont mean crap, i havent had a tire balanced on any of my bikes since 2003 and i dont notice any vibrations at all even at highspeeds. even if you balance a tire its gonna get right out of balance the 1st time u dot a burnout on it anyway.

Re: wheel balance on a lot bike???
When I don't balance mine, I really don't notice much of a difference..
But it's one of them, "its soo easy, why not" kind of things IMO..
So I just usually balance them myself, unless I'm in a huge rush to get out to riding

Re: wheel balance on a lot bike???
I didn't balance one time I put on a new tire and the bike would go into and instant slapper when the bars were not held. Once I needed another tire I balance it and it was gone.

no way an unbalanced tire would cause the bars to slap, unless that thing had a tumor or something.

Re: wheel balance on a lot bike???
It really doesn't take much time or cost much too balance them or check if they are out of balance. I would do it just to feel relaxed.
Bike tires & rims nowadays have very tight tolerances and most times my tire don't need any balancing weights either.

Re: wheel balance on a lot bike???
Till this thread I had forgotten I never balanced the pair on my f4i.
Rides just fine even on the highway. Hell the back one has a broken band on the edge of it

Haven't been on it for a full day yet due to weather so this weekend I can hopefully get a feel for it

Re: wheel balance on a lot bike???
if you can change them you can balance them. put the axle in the wheel and rest it on 2 milk crates so the wheel is suspended, wiggle the axle back and forth and the heavy spot of the wheel will fall down, stick a weight up top at 12-oclock (if the heavy spot falls fast use a big weight, if it falls slow use a smaller one), spin the wheel to a random spot and wiggle the axle again, add weights as needed until you can put the wheel at any random position and no heavy spots fall.
I do mine on all my bikes, and on street bike have had it over 300km/h and it's perfect...
