Re: What's the hot editing software for HD?

Adobe Premier / After Effects - learn this software and you can hang with the best of them.

Premiere CS3 or newer though, premiere pro 1/2 can;t capture HD.

Also, Premiere is a BASTARD to learn how to use. Try Sony Vegas.

Re: What's the hot editing software for HD?

ummmm, premiere 1.5 and up will capture HD but you will need to download an extra file from adobe for the hdv codec...

there is no hot editing software, its all personal preference...whatever you have the budget for really...

Re: What's the hot editing software for HD?

if its worth learning its going to take you more than a day or two...

premiere is not so hard if you have messed with other nle's before, but to really learn the in's and out's of it does take some time...

and premiere and final cut are very similar, so learning one helps you learn the other so to speak...

HD for stunting is like HD for ****.....not always the best thing! Some of you ******* are ugly, and 15 foot paintjobs look SPECTACULAR on regular definition.....keep in mind in HD we'll be able to see a tiny paint run, booger in ur nose, ur ugly mug thru your helmet lense....everything just like seing stretch marks on a pornstars ***, or where she didnt wipe her *** enough, or that makeup covered pimple 2" from her ****.

Stick with a nice standard definition and keep ur production quality high and you're fine.

Yo go to www.soft-best.net and you can download most editing programs and other programs for free. If you have any problems with getting the cracks to work let me know and I'll try to help out.

unfortunately the entire world is going HD whether we like it or not (and believe me, if I could stay SD for a few more years I would, and my wallet would love me for it )...

anyone who is halfway serious about presenting or having footage to sell to larger outlets, needs to make the switch...most will not accept SD footage anymore here in the next few years...alot already don't...

so get that paint right, wipe your nose (and your butt) and get ready...

Re: What's the hot editing software for HD?

I wouldn't worry about the editing software as much as I would worry about pulling focus. You'll find out that it isn't as easy and forgiving as a SD camera.

As for editing software, I'm a Mac guy so I use Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Shake and Motion.

Re: What's the hot editing software for HD?

It's a pain in the *** to set up and you have to be very gentle with it because it's easily gets knocked out of alignment. You need a production monitor because any on-cam lcd won't give you enough resolution to pull focus, and w/ the monitor, matte box, follow focus and batteries it weighs 12 pounds so it's a ************ to shoot anything handheld and there is a full stop of light loss... but the images are spectacular. I shot a bunch of commercials and music videos w/ that little guy.
