Re: whats your gearing?

i was running a 60 tooth rear 14 tooth front.........my front went out, and i just put a 16 tooth front on, and it has NO torque compared to that 14. I'd say -2 or -1 front and between 10-14 up in the rear

Re: whats your gearing?

Do any of you ever ride on the interstate? I'm switching my gearing in a week or so and I don't want to be absolutely screaming the whole way. My buddy is stock in the front and +11 in the rear and it feels GREAT in the lot and even around towning, but the minute you get on the bypass it sucks because the rpms are so high, even at the speed limit. I've been thinking about going -1+5 for a decent balance

thats one of the reasons i like mild gearing cuz i hate running at super high rpms on the highway. with +7 which is real close to -1 +5 at 75 80 mph im at around 9k rpms.

Re: whats your gearing?

F4i, -1/+11 and lovin it (pretty much the same as stock front with a 60 tooth)

I had the -1/+11 for a while and wanted to try other setups so I tried stock front with the +11 and then 14 front, so -2/+11 and hated both. 1 wasn't torquey enough and the other was too torquey... If it ain't broke don't fix it!

you can really feel what difference 1 tooth up front +/- can make.

Re: whats your gearing?

I run stock front with 56 rear. I love it. I can only do 1 1/2 circles so I dunno if my style of riding is much help to you. But its perfect streets and highways! 2nd gear highchairs come up easy once I learned the trick to it. So it defenetly had enough power for a 195 lbs 6'1 dude. And I would have to slow down to like 60mph at least and then the spot were and barely pumping on the brake would be at like amost 70mph. 3rd gear would come up no faster then 75 or so. But only staggered, sitdown and ss. That all I ever learned and tried in 3rd. Get really crazy when I hit that spot at like 85-90. I've been thinking of getting a 60 but then I would hate it for other stuff. I hate those high rpm's and if 5-0 comes on the highway. Those 4 less teeth make a world of difference I'm sure

Its 2.3...and yes. And it is also a different feeling from front and reat sprockets. Different torque curves.

whats the difference in torque of the front and rear sprockets, like how does each affect the bike. like im +7 so how diff would -3 in the front feel just as an example. i always thought down in the front did all the same as up in the back.

You're correct. People say they feel a difference but theyre on crack. Espicially crtchkrtr, he's on double crack.

From a physics book standpoint, the only difference is chain wear.

Re: whats your gearing?

I always said don't go dn in the front on bikes cuz it make the torque curve twitchy. Though the wimpy f4i's seem to need it. I wouldn't go any smaller than a 15 tooth in the front.. The small diameter in the front will kink ur chain up quick.

W/ that said I think -1 +10 or stock and a 60 would be the champion for the 4fi imo

Re: whats your gearing?

Its the concept of rotating mass. Much like a flywheel. If you take a 3ft pole and put a 6in wheel on it and spin the wheel. It will have more pull than say a 2in wheel...inertia.... Visa V concordidly I like to make things up.
