Always turn in the title transfer slip when selling a bike/car...
Don't know if you guys in the mainland have a similar thing. But here when you sell a car there's a slip at the top where the new owner fills out his info and you turn it in to show that you sold the vehicle. Well I didn't for my past few vehicles mostly cause I was lazy and forgot. Checked my record recently and I got no registration and no safety check tickets that they are unpaid. Got them back in October of 2007...funny thing is...I've haven't gotten a ticket since 2004. O_o So now I gotta go to the court house and find out which car/bike it is. Find out who was driving and try to get in contact with them. Or hopefully transfer over the fines to them. Or...another thing i was considering was if the person didn't transfer the title over yet...I'd call the cops...and say I had it stored at a friends house with the title in the vehicle and keys hidden. An that someone must've stolen it. So if the guy ever gets pulled again hell get arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle...and I'll get the car/bike back for free haha

Reporting it stolen is some shady ****!!!!! Maybe I'm a little too honest about that kinda ****. Not turning in the sales slip is your own fault but you shouldn't have to pay the fines. My buddy got a letter from the BMV about a mechanics lean against a car he owned 4 years prior, turns out nobody else that owned it ever turned in the title. They told him he could either pay the fine, sign the title over to the mechanic, or get sent to collections. They will probably give you a few options. Hope you know who you sold it too though.

u can try saying you mailed it in or turned it in at the dmv, and u guess that it didn't go thru or sumtin..
if u say u forgot, they'll prolly say it's ur fault and make u pay.

True true...I'll probably say I sent it in already or something. An I wasn't mostly thinking about reporting it stolen to get the car back for free. I honestly don't give a rats *** about the car...I'm just pissed that he fucked up my clean record. Oh well hopefully I'll be able to get it off my record.
I also apologize for posting this in the stunt discussion considering it don't got much to do with stunting at all haha. I was just a little heated and needed to vent.

I had a similar situation when I lived in MN...
All they had me do was sign a afidavit saying that I sold the vehicle and provided the information for the person that we sold it to and it was all taken care of. Basically, we did what they call a forced registration.

well actually if you go to your dmv online and do a title transfer you can read that you sending in the paperwork doesnt completely release your liability on the vehicle. that just shows that u sold it, but its not finalized until they file their paperwork. kinda stupid, but i got blasted by the same thing few years ago. next time just do it online its quicker and easier and u know that the dmv has it no matter what then save it as a word document so this doesnt happen again to yuh, im still paying running red light tickets taken from intersection cameras from the guy i sold that car to.

I think in some states the liscence plate stays with the car when sold...? Am I right? In CT you either turn them in when you sell a vehicle or transfer them to another, but at least do one of the 2 so you don't continue to get taxed. Plus that forces the buyer to A: register it B: ride dirty
Never do I leave my plate still registered to me on any vehicle I sell.

Mississippi is the same way...plate stays with the person not the vehicle...however, in Minnesota, the plate stays with the vehicle...
