steps to stunting.
so, without to much drama and b.s and calling me a squid. cuz i already know this. this is my question. when you all started into this stunting world. what steps did you take while learning. ex. we know that you have to learn the basic stand up before doin a circle .
right now i ride an R1. i will be gettin rid of it soon for a 600 and gettin it stuntable. i can do 2nd gear BP no problem, usually between 30-50 on the stock R1 but i havent tried to much other than standups. im thinkin when i get the 600 i want to 1) get used to the new bike. 2) probly start from scratch and get used to first gear to slow **** down. but i also want to do combos. and all that good ****.
squids please dont reply lol. im already a squid so i dont need advise from them. anyone here who is already a great rider post up what you learned first. rather it be goin straight to a lot doin slow ****. or did you learn spreaders, hc's , all that b.s and combos and then go to a lot?
im just curious to know how most of you went about it all.

call me a squid if u want but i get on here half the time just to read dont post much but i ride with alot of great people in the summer .......... shockerz , streetfighterz, stl local boyz im not up in the front doing all the **** cus im still learning but they have all told and showed me how they started its just by tuning up the throttle a little bit and start out and pop it up and try to carry in out then once u get the hang of it stand on the seat and just move ur way up untill u can get to where u can clutch it straight up

maybe i sounded worse than i am lol.
i can ride a stand up good. my next goal is BP on a ss for miles. then im wondering if i should work on flamingo's, spreaders, froggers, hc's can can , nac nac , and do combos. cuz i really wanna be able to walk all over my bike.
so did you all learn to do these tricks individually and then learn to do combos with them? or did some of you just hop in a lot and start tryin to 12' your bike and do coasters and O's and all that ****?
like i said i really wanna learn combos. i know i have to get a ss down first. but i also wanna try slower stuff in a lot. i was just curious as to what most of you learned first

Re: steps to stunting.
First I bought a 50
Then I rode it everyday, 2+ hours a day for a year
Got brake control on LOCK, got circles on lock, got combos on lock.
Then I got a 150f and f4i, started riding both at same time pretty much.. Learned to hold 30mph staggards in 1st, and 65mph staggards in 2nd for miles on the f4i within a couple weeks since i had brake control on LOCK from the 50..
Never got past highway wheelies on the f4i for the longest time, never put effort into it, just stunted the 50, and got decent on the 150.. Learned circles and caosters on the 150f, which transfered to the f4i very easily..
then I just hit the parking lot working on going slower and slower tell I learned idle on the f4i.. Learned idle.. Then started working on scraping my fiberglass tail, and worked on coasters..
Then after I could hold idle at under 10mph with no throttle input, do coasters for 100+ foot, could scrape tail on command, I re-geared with a 60t sprocket, and threw a hand brake on it...
Few days later learned circles (thanks to learning idle on the f4i, and learning circles on the 150f)
And to this day I'm still a squid that has a couple OK tricks.. Just learning no handers, still working on circles, and starting to get straight line combo's
edit: One thing, do you have BRAKE CONTROL? If not, BE DAMN CARFUL!
find a friend with a dirt bike between a 50 and a 150f.. And LEARN BRAKE CONTROL!
IMO you will loop at LEAST once, probably a couple dozen times before brake control REALLY coems to you..
It took me about 6 months to learn brake control on my 50! I'd always just jump off when I went to far back

Re: steps to stunting.
I did my early learning on the street but now that I go to the lot I progress alot faster, and when I throw something up on the street theres a better chance Ill pull it off nice and smooth.
Work on the brake until its second nature, where you can basically clutch as hard as you want and still save it. After this you get Idle AND THEN move to off the peg tricks.
I hope to be there soon too

Re: steps to stunting.
thanks for the real post! haha. i rode a fifty for a few hrs for the first time the other day. i was steppin from stagger to ss and doin nac nacs and ****. im pretty decent with brake control but like i said ive been workin with a brand new r1 and never wanted to try anything to risky.
i rode with a few guys alot last summer that do some pretty nice combos. pretty sure they just learned all the stunts first , then started doin a standup and stepping to ss / flamingo , then jumpin to spreader , or steppin to frogger. i love watchin ppl do combos on the street so im thinkin i wanna work on that alot :YEAH .

i know what ya mean about clutchin as hard as i can. last few weeks it seems like ive been clutchin the **** out of my r1. which is how i slowed 2nd gear down to 30-35. but i had a mishap / scraped / and had to bail hahahahah
i def wanna learn ss's next cuz it seems like the next basic stunt that needs to be learned.
so do you recommend learning idle and coasters before tryin combos?

ditch the R1......get a 600....... learn break control doing 2nd gear **** tearin up the streets with a buddy, dont even think about getting a handbreak or doing anytrhing else till you have mastered sitdowns and standups

Re: steps to stunting.
im gonna have to re-master the standup on a 600 but i doubt that will take long...i wanted a HB cuz ss's scare me without it lol. ive tried them alot but then decided to stop before i looped. i plan on learning everything the right way too. if im doin a wheelie and gain speed i come right now. i look at how i rode last season and laugh my *** off and think about how fucked i would be crashin a pow wow at 90. i crashed the other day at 30 and didnt have a scratch on me really.

bro, just have fun. dont take this **** too seriously. go out and ride everyday with the goal of having as much fun as possible while remaining as safe as possible and let things happen as they will. i never expected to do anything that im doing right now, and i never really had specific goals set out for myself. i just go out and ride and do what im feeling, play it by ear everyday, i dont learn tricks that i dont like or dont feel fun to me, i dont give a **** who thinks its cool or not. i do what i think is cool and if ppl appreciate it then BONUS!. my point, dont pressure yourself youll just cloud your head and inhibit your learning process. take it easy and everything will fall in its place when the time is right.

Re: steps to stunting.
learn the tricks individually then once ur comforable try mixin then up, circles wont come for a loong while, if youve got standups down try a seat stander, ive come to realize that for me having the ***** to try something new is 80% of the battle good luck man

Re: steps to stunting.
haha im always having fun, and i def play it safe. thats why it took me a season to learn a standup. rode for about 2 months til i realized i needed to clutch. after i tried that i learned quick. im in ny so i just started pullin the ride back out. i started slowing the R1 down to about 30-35 by using my brake alot more and i looped the bitch the other day lol. i swear my brake faded i had about a 50-60 foot scrape in the road but i had to bail. i just love this sport. no better feelin that when you actually start to balance wheelies. ill keep you all posted on my progress. i gotta ditch this r1 asap and get a 600.
if anyone is close to NY feel free to hit me up. i like meetin new riders. especially those better than me

Re: steps to stunting.
Im sqwiddy myself but, I think its gonna be a difficult gowin from a ***** out 07 R1 to a weak lil 600 in its own rite. I would def gear it up to compensate for not havin all the xtra power on tap
